JOB DESCRIPTION – Engineering Program Manager
The engineering program manager will be responsible for performing tasks related to managing the execution of new product development programs, and leading improvements to best practices and standard procedures in design and development. The individual will interact with design engineers within a mixed discipline project structure. Responsibilities include planning schedules, outlining deliverables, and setting milestones for the assigned programs. The sr. program manager will monitor project costs and integration/test schedules with the operations group, in addition to supporting the build of the first-of-kind tools within the framework of the product lifecycle development process. The selected individual will work with a skilled and motivated engineering team including mechanical, electrical, controls, software engineers, technicians, and consultants on multiple projects, which may include new product development, product continuous improvements, value engineering, cost reductions and application-specific customizations. The position reports to the SVP of New Product Development in Florham Park, NJ.
Required Qualifications:
- BS degree in Engineering or Science
- 7+ years of experience managing development of automated equipment for the semiconductor, electronics or medical manufacturing industries.
- Experience introducing new products into the market from concept to commercialization.
- Ability and willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities & assignments.
- Experience managing software & firmware releases in coordination with hardware designs.
Responsibilities:
- Managing product development programs, which will cover all aspects of system mechanical design, electrical, controls, and software
- Overseeing and directing the overall program development tasks through working directly with the Engineering functional managers to allocate resources and define deliverables
- Coordinating design and project reviews to ensure the participation of all functions including marketing, engineering, applications, manufacturing, quality, and field service
- Creating and maintaining detailed Gantt charts to keep all stakeholders aware of critical path issues and mitigation plans along with managing the development budget and BOM costs
- Leading the creation of the product development plan as defined by the PLC process, including engineering specifications, response to marketing requirements document, work breakdown structure, and development milestones
- Assuming full ownership of the release of the new products to production, including documentation, development of manuals, training material, and test procedures
- Interfacing with engineering for continuous improvement projects and upgrade/retrofit kits
- Participating in customer meetings such as working groups, quality, training, and taskforce meetings to capture actions, assign owners and estimate deliverables
- Interfacing with product marketing, sales team, account management, and leadership team
- Interfacing with customer key stakeholders through providing regular status updates
- Collaborating with engineering to implement best DFx practices in product design, updating design handbook, and reviewing standard operating procedures
- Leading FMEA analysis on new products in collaboration with manufacturing and quality engineering
- Coordinating 3rd party certifications with factory and customer
- Managing source inspection testing of new products in collaboration with the customer
- Ensuring the adherence of the engineering team to the standard change RFC/ECN process
- Implementing engineering processes and workflows in new product development
- Managing software feature releases in collaboration with the Agile SW development team
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Professional experience developing complex equipment in a matrix organization
- Experience tracking and managing requirements and specifications for NPD
- Experience reporting program status to internal and external stakeholders
- Experience in MS Project, Excel, Word, Visio, and Power Point a must
- Solid knowledge of Program Management and Product Life Cycle Development Process
