Contextual Classification is the process of automatically categorizing content, recognizing people and logos, and identifying languages; it’s the application of machine learning and computer vision to the web. We use this technology to better understand the content people are viewing online, and to match it with the most appropriate advertisements.
This isn’t something that can be done by people looking at web pages one-by-one. To work at Conversant’s scale – billions of requests per day – we need to build large, distributed systems with best-in-class technologies such as GPU computing, pub/sub data streams, and deployment tools like Docker.
The Classification team is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join their group. As a member of this team you’ll lead the Text Classification team to develop accurate text classification systems from prototyping to production level. You’ll leverage machine learning/NLP algorithms to implement highly scalable and accurate systems for text classification.
Key Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Lead team to develop text classification systems from prototyping to production level.
- Implement highly scalable and accurate machine learning/NLP systems for text classification.
- Lead team to monitor and maintain high volume production systems to support contextual text classification.
- Design and evaluate novel approaches for analyzing high volumes of text data.
- Work closely with Product Management to execute on agreed upon product roadmap.
- Develop novel solutions using a combination of technologies based on engineering requirements.
- Recruit and retain a talented team of engineers to support the contextual text classification service.
- Collaborate with other teams to solve machine learning/NLP related problems.

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to implement high volume production systems capable of handling billions of requests per day.
Ability to implement machine learning algorithms using open source libraries and self-developed code.
Strong coding skills including C/C++ and Python (experience working on Linux os).
Experience with Agile development processes and practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with text content analysis.
Experience with deep learning frameworks is a plus.
Experience and Education:
M.S or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related fields.
5+ years of academic or industry experience (preferably at a tech company).
Educational level:
Master Degree
Level of experience (years):
Senior (5+ years of experience)
