Description
Under the general direction of the Manager of Support Services, Admin Nurse, Asst. Dir Nursing & Operations OR and the Hospital Lab Tech Supervisor, the Patient Specialty Services Tech's primary function is to assist the anesthesiologist in the preparation of equipment needed to administer anesthesia; setting up invasive lines for patient monitoring, performing cell saving procedures, setting up laser and video equipment and assisting in laser procedures, as well as setting up other O.R. equipment and performing clerical and coordinating duties as assigned by the Patient Specialty Services Tech supervisor and RN charge nurse. Working hours primarily days will be expected to rotate shifts and cover call, weekends, nights, and holidays. This role functions as a member of a team. Inherent duties include but are not limited to:
- Proper care of instrumentation and equipment
- Utilization of all safety measures
- Accurate completion of all documentation
Qualifications
Required:
- 2 years of experience as an Anesthesia tech
- Experience with Rapid Transfuser and invasive intravenous patient lines
- Writing skills for accurate documentation
- Ability to comply with department standards including attendance and dress code
- Current CPR certification
- Knowledge of Infection control, health surveillance, OSHA, Universal Precautions, Waste Management, handling of hazardous substances, and the Medical Device Act
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the job relating to lifting, carrying, pulling, or pushing 50 lbs or more, as well as extensive walking and standing
Preferred:
- Anesthesia Technician Certification
- Skills in setting priorities and organizing workload effectively while integrating multiple assignments with multilevel personnel
- Skill in speaking English language with medical/surgical terminology
- Strong electronics background recommended
- Experience with anesthesia machines
