Responsibilities:
- Serve as team leader for multi-disciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care and treatment.
- Evaluate patients upon admission and provide inpatient psychiatric care.
- Prepare written psychiatric assessments including treatment plans and administrative recommendations.
- Manage chronic medication and conduct psychotropic drug reviews.
- Consult with medical staff as needed and coordinate care for residents in adherence to state and federal guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Considerable knowledge of inpatient psychiatry.
- Knowledge of the theories and general practices of medicine; thorough knowledge of biological, social, and psychological developmental processes at all ages; sound identity with and training in medicine and psychiatry; and demonstrated clinical abilities.
- Ability to work on an interdisciplinary team and integrate care is essential.
- Graduation from an accredited medical school and completion of psychiatry residency (or anticipated completion before job commencement).
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to adult patients, as credentialed by the Medical Staff.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (including legibility) are essential.
- The candidate should demonstrate or learn proficiency with electronic medical records.
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina.

Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus:
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
- A newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
- An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
- the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months;
- the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
- or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
This Sign-on Bonus is contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire.
