The Role and Team
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Principal, Product Management Leader to lead the development of our AI Platform. The ideal candidate will drive the strategy, development, and growth of our AI platform capabilities, ensuring that it meets the evolving needs of our customers and partners, and maintains our competitive edge in the market.
As a Principal PM - AI Platform, you will own and define a roadmap for Medallia's AI platform services. You will lead efforts defining the product vision and requirements for the what, why, and where of our AI Platform Strategy. This includes assessing and making appropriate recommendations where we should build/buy/partner for our tools, infrastructure, and frameworks for developing, deploying, and managing artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in the Medallia product portfolio.
You will establish direction across the product suite such that Medallia application builders and external parties conform to common practices and standards with the aim to simplify the process of implementing AI solutions internally and externally. You will be a key member of our Medallia AI Moderation Council and represent it internally and externally.
Finally, you will collaborate with other vertical product and engineering leaders to ensure products built in the Medallia ecosystem support our vision of personalizing every experience. This role is best suited for someone with a strong technical and product management background who is passionate about defining and delivering technical services at scale.
Responsibilities- Drive product strategy and delivery of the AI Platform as part of our Experience Platform, including machine learning frameworks, model serving infrastructure, and data processing pipelines.
- Define advanced features including optimal use of technologies such as automated machine learning (AutoML), distributed training, and model optimization techniques, as well as APIs and SDKs for seamless integration of our AI services into applications.
- Champion the development of scalable, cost-effective, cloud-native infrastructure to support high-performance model training and inference.
- Spearhead initiatives in areas such as federated learning, edge AI, and privacy-preserving machine learning.
- Collaborate with the data engineering team to design efficient data ingestion, preprocessing, and feature engineering pipelines.
- Lead the integration of cutting-edge AI technologies, such as transformer models, reinforcement learning, and graph neural networks.
- Champion the implementation of robust security measures, including model and data encryption, access controls, and compliance with AI regulations.
- Lead initiatives in multi-modal AI, incorporating text, image, audio, and video processing capabilities into the platform.
- Define and own the 12+ month feature roadmap to drive priorities while taking into consideration both value creation and cost to create value.
- Work cross-functionally and collaboratively with peers in PM, Design and Engineering.
- Work cross-functionally with other teams such as executives, sales, product marketing, and customer success to ensure their objectives are met, inputs and feedback are considered, and plans communicated.
- Collect and analyze feedback from customers, stakeholders and other teams to shape requirements, features and end products.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in science, engineering, or related quantitative field or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of enterprise SaaS product management experience focused on data, analytics, and/or ML/AI products and services.
- Demonstrated experience building, launching and scaling enterprise AI solutions directly leveraging ML/AI infrastructure services offered by one or more key cloud provider(s).
- Demonstrated understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
- Demonstrated business partnership experience communicating and collaborating with customers, prospects, and/or partners.
- Demonstrated experience driving cross-functional company initiatives across multiple departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of direct and hands-on experience bringing enterprise ML/AI products to the market.
- Thought leadership, evangelizing and public speaking experience.
- Outstanding communication abilities, capable of translating complex technical concepts.
- Experience with a Customer Experience Management Platform.
- Experience bringing new products or solutions to market.
- Experience working in an agile development environment and familiarity with tools such as Productboard and Jira to write user stories and acceptance criteria in partnership with developers.
Medallia is committed to equal pay and transparency. The annual base salary range for this position is $160,000-260,000. This position is bonus eligible. Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline and combines all of the distinct labor markets within the US. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors. Medallia considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, candidate's work location, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as, market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.
