The Department of Anesthesiology is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff.
The College of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology is looking for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA). This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.
Essential Functions
• Conduct preoperative evaluation: assess condition of patient and appropriate anesthetic technique in consultation with attending anesthesiologist.
• Prepare appropriate equipment for administration of anesthesia. This involves, but is not limited to, checking machines, appropriate small equipment, blood pressure cuffs, endotracheal tubes, and drugs for the conduit of anesthesia.
• Administer anesthesia, giving drugs and monitoring vital signs and other indicators of anesthesia’s effects on patients. The regular, frequent, and accurate recording of patient’s condition during and immediately following the administration of anesthetic drugs is required.
• Conduct postoperative follow-up. Accompany the patient to the PACU assuring that the patient’s condition is optimal. Visit in-house patient within 24-48 hours following anesthesia to assess post-anesthetic recovery.
• CRNA shall administer anesthesia only under the direct supervision of a faculty physician anesthesiologist.
• Report any malfunctioning equipment.
• Supervise RNSA students in clinical instruction and the administration of anesthetics.
• Participate in call coverage with faculty anesthesiologists.
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree, with DNP degree is ideal.
- Current Nursing license in the state of Ohio.
- Certificate of Authority to practice in Ohio as a CRNA by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
- Current certification or recertification as a nurse anesthetist by the NBCRNA.
- Meets the educational requirements as set forth by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
