An imperative around driving efficient, scalable, reusable, and easy to consume technology solutions is a bedrock of our Digital Strategy.
The focus of this role is to provide strategic technology decisions linked to investments that achieve business outcomes. This role will set the direction and focus for the architecture capability that will underpin both our Manufacturing Division and the wider company’s Digital Strategy.
This position will support architecture guidance and governance for our Manufacturing Division, in support of the key capabilities in our global manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and operations value teams. The position, in partnership with the Enterprise Architecture team, is responsible for delivering business, systems, information and technology architecture artifacts that drive investments for our Manufacturing Division. This role will work collaboratively with business and IT leaders throughout our company.
A partial list of responsibilities includes the following:
- Collaborate with peer architects to deliver value-centric designs to support Manufacturing Division demands.
- Create documented architectures in collaboration with the Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain Value teams.
- Advise value teams on modern information architecture practices for system integration: iPass, (Application Integration as a Service), Data Abstraction Layers, APIs, etc.
- Provide operational input into architectures for the various value teams to ensure plan and predictable performance for site based and enterprise applications/products within our Manufacturing Division.
- Participate in the architecture community for our Manufacturing Division, gaining alignment of architecture practices and capabilities for the division, in alignment with Enterprise Architecture (EA) practices.
- Update and maintain the Manufacturing Standard Architecture (MSA) and Enterprise Capability Model.
- Support the collection/assessment of metrics of technology maturity, health, and business value and plays an active role in delivering the MSA.
- Partnering with the EA Systems Architect team, re-use the best available technologies and processes from across the enterprise.
- Lead the creation of a common and well managed set of Architecture practices, which includes architecture models, architecture methods and templates, architecture communities and training, and much more.
- Stay current with industry technology trends, cross industry architecture standards and introduce best practices to our Manufacturing Division. Ensure our company takes an active role in developing and sustaining the relevant industry standards.
- Effectively work with both waterfall and agile project teams to evolve the technical landscape toward the desired end state.
- Prepare and deliver executive level briefings and communicate complex topics effectively to diverse audiences.
- The ability to travel will be required (Domestic and International) ~20%.
Education Minimum Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related study.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Above 5 years in a business architecture, information architecture, or system architecture role.
- Deep experience supporting at least one of the following areas: Manufacturing, Quality Labs, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing Site Operations.
- Experience documenting business processes and understanding how they align with technology topologies and architectures.
- Results-orientation with the proven ability and reputation for developing plans and implementing them successfully.
- Proven skill in partnering with stakeholders and navigate across conflicting priorities to balance critical tactical and strategic needs.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills – able to effectively communicate complex concepts in simple ways.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with a variety of audiences and stakeholders.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience in integrating real-time shop floor and lab systems, at an enterprise level, with appropriate levels of resiliency and performance, using modern information architecture practices for system integration (iPaSS and Data Abstraction Layers).
- Cloud technology architecture experience.
- Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
- Experience in developing Process and Master Data Management strategies.
- Experience in manufacturing analytics systems, supply and demand forecasting, biologics process modeling, and advanced image analysis.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements that drive IT and OT delivery, including 21-CFR-Part-11, Annex 11, Good Manufacturing practices, Computer Systems Validation, track and trace, and other global regulatory requirements that impact IT and OT systems in the manufacturing and supply chain space.
- Understanding of Information and Operations Technology (IT/OT) systems that support Manufacturing & Supply Chains, including manufacturing execution systems, quality & labs systems, resource planning systems, MES and Process Control technologies, track & trace, cold chain and other supply chain systems, OT security and shop floor networks.
- Working knowledge and application of Perdue Model, ISA S95 and S88 Standards in GxP environment.
- Experience in Enterprise Architecture.
- Experience implementing TOGAF framework.
