Job Summary
Oversees Enterprise Security Engineering and Architecture for Walgreens. Accountable for developing designs, standards, and patterns and ensuring they meet company Policy and regulatory compliance needs as well as achieve key business strategies. In alignment with Information Security strategies, develops and directs long-term strategic security architecture roadmap(s) for major security initiatives. Develops and implements technology strategies to build robust technology capabilities to support growth and enhance reliability, differentiation from competitors and to drive leadership. Oversees team and collaborates with other IT leaders to create a business aligned technology strategy for the enterprise. Partners with security and IT teams to advise on the designs, configurations and implementations of their technology, as well as the selection, roadmap and implementation of new security technologies. Decisions have significant impact on the organization.
Job Responsibilities
- Develops strategic plans for the specified area of responsibility to achieve strategic business goals and targeted financial and content quality results. Establishes objectives for managers and/or teams of professionals in order to achieve the strategic and operational objectives of the group. Contributes to and drives process improvement initiatives across the IT organization. Challenges the status quo. Identifies innovations for short- and long-term strategic opportunities.
- Leads planning and design sessions leveraging knowledge of current world cyber threats as a key basis for decision making.
- Provides consultation to cross-functional partners on global information security architecture designs and requirements.
- Participates and serves as Security SME on behalf of Information Security Enterprise Architecture governance committees, maintains awareness of industry and regulatory best practices and requirements, and ensures architecture designs and decisions meet Global Policy and Regulatory guidelines (GISP, HIPAA, PCI, GDPR, etc.)
- Develops short- and long-range service strategies and plans for global security architecture.
- Builds security requirements for new major transformational programs and platforms. Designs and architects secure security solutions with deliverables which can be referenced for future programs and platforms.
- Establishes strategies for the deployment of security controls necessary for the protection of assets (critical systems and data). Collaborates with necessary Security and IT personnel for the creation of solutions.
- Drives security technology investments based on trend analysis, market disruptions and strategic alignment.
- Ensures solutions consider ITGRC, Privacy, and Legal requirements and partners with respective areas as required to ensure ongoing awareness.
- Leads deep analysis of cloud systems, on premise systems and applications to understand security limitations and weaknesses in order to identify cyber security gaps and/or vulnerabilities which may need to be addressed.
- Sets financial, operational and quality objectives for the specified area of responsibility. Develops budget for specified area of responsibility and is accountable for delivering against business goals/objectives.
- Drives results through the effective management of resources, plans, policies, and processes. Makes resource and investment decisions to support Walgreens IT vision and execution. Manages budgets and capital expenses for area of responsibility.
- Obtains and allocates resources to meet goals, objectives and operating plans. Outcomes directed have a significant impact on the organization's short-term and long-term results.
- Ensures the ongoing training and development of direct reports. Oversees and directs the work of a diverse and effective team of technology professionals capable of solving abstract problems without precedent, including directors, managers and their subordinates. Develops and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; builds and maintains employee morale and motivation; ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of IT security architecture and engineering experience OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 11 years of IT security architecture and engineering experience.
- At least 5 years of experience developing and implementing strategic roadmaps, goals and/or objectives.
- Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, in the business community & with vendors.
- Experience diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
- Experience managing and leading cross-functional and matrix teams.
- Experience interacting at the executive level.
- Experience developing strategic technology initiatives which align with business goals and budget.
- Experience of driving large scale, enterprise-wide transformation, including the culture and mindset of a group to embrace new and improved ways of using technology.
- At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
- At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.
- Willing to travel up to 20% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity or related field and at least 10 years of IT security architecture and engineering experience OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 13 years of IT security architecture and engineering.
- Certifications in at least one of the following - CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, GPEN, CEH.
