Senior Tax Associate
Looking for a Senior Tax Associate with at least 3 years of experience. In this position, you will prepare and review tax returns for individuals and businesses, research tax questions and unusual tax matters, perform tax planning, and study the Tax Code for potential tax savings. You must have a positive attitude, good communication skills, be a self-starter, self-disciplined and a team player.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Researches, develops and documents complicated taxation issues.
- Demonstrates understanding of accounting, bookkeeping, and financial statements including financial reporting.
- Ability to prepare complex individual, corporation, S corporation, and partnership tax returns without supervision and few errors.
- Conducts detailed reviews on simple returns and appropriate review notes for preparers; raises potential tax issues.
- Provides accurate calculations on book-to-tax differences like cash to accrual reconciliations.
- Ability to reconcile retained earnings or partner’s capital accounts.
- Ability to make adjusting and tax journal entries, including accrual to cash adjustments.
- Proactively takes part in tax planning for clients.
- Demonstrates an understanding of tax needs of client.
- Assists others in resolving problems related to systems or software.
- Training and/or mentoring tax staff, tax interns and admin staff
- Working longer hours and weekends during tax season.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's or Master’s in Accounting, Finance or other related field from an accredited college/university preferred.
- CPA or working towards license.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years public accounting experience with a primary focus on tax preparation.
- Proficient in CCH Engagement, CCH Practice Management, or CCH ProSystem fx.
- Proficient in MS Excel.
Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Nonprofit, trust and estate tax return experience a plus.
- Experience with BNA Income Tax Planner a plus.
- Staff training & mentoring experience a plus.
- Project management experience a plus.
- Ability and willingness to keep maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize efficiently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Desire to continue to grow through continuing training.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
