About the Role
We're looking for a seasoned Analytics Architect to lead the Tableau function and Analytics data strategy within the Marketing Intelligence Team at Morningstar. This role will play a critical role by setting the requirements for the cloud data environment, building the roadmap to ML data science models, building the analytics reporting suites, and supporting junior team members in Tableau development. You will work cross-functionally to collaborate and influence the data strategy and set the requirements for engineering teams. You will have deep technical chops to build out the Tableau best practices and the desire to mentor junior analysts. You will build dashboarding suites that answer business questions, synthesize findings and elevate insights to drive iterative growth for Morningstar.
This role is based in our Chicago office and hybrid attendance is required.
Responsibilities
- Work with internal data engineering teams to set into motion the roadmap and data strategy for building cloud data environment.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers and data scientists to understand data needs, representing key data insights in a meaningful way.
- Develop analytics reporting suites to quantify performance and share results with stakeholders consistently across levels of the organization that help the business understand and optimize performance.
- Understand and visualize customer and prospect funnels, funnel dynamics, and user trends to identify opportunities to drive a step-change in marketing effectiveness.
- Design, build and launch new data extraction, transformation and loading processes in production, mentoring others around efficient queries. Support existing processes and implement optimized solutions.
- Set into motion data science roadmap to develop ML models to quantify drivers of conversion, including multi-touch attribution and lead scoring with Databricks.
- Support and inspire Tableau skills in junior Analysts team members.
- Implement and maintain data quality standards, ensuring data integrity and consistency across all Tableau reports and dashboards.
- Optimize Tableau workbooks and data sources for performance and scalability, ensuring fast and efficient data retrieval and processing.
Requirements
- Master's degree preferred, ideally in statistics, finance, mathematics, engineering, analytics, or in a quantitative discipline.
- 7+ years proven experience in executing Tableau visualization work in business analytics function.
- Expert level Tableau development and writing complex SQL queries.
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience to process data for modeling.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering Tableau Dashboards for stakeholder teams that effortlessly elevate insights and answer key business questions.
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills with technical knowledge of setting requirements for cloud data environments.
- Experience in understanding and translating ambiguous and complex business problems into data solutions and presenting findings to the leadership.
- A collaborative expert and problem solver who thrives in cross-functional environments with the ability to solution alongside teams and foster junior teams Tableau skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
