The Clinic Director (CFD) leads the optimization of patient care within a designated ambulatory setting. They leverage their managerial, interpersonal, and clinical expertise to:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Patient Flow: Serve as the clinical leader working in collaboration with the nurse director, medical director, operations manager, and other members of the healthcare team and ancillary services to ensure safe patient flow in the ambulatory clinic, facilitating the right patient service at the right time. Share accountability for safe, effective, high-quality care and optimal outcomes.
- Serves as a clinical resource to assist in creating assignments that provide efficient patient care, positive staff feedback, support, and empowerment of clinical staff.
- Assists in identifying and reducing barriers that inhibit patient flow.
- Promotes collaboration with the entire healthcare team for seamless patient flow throughout care settings.
- In collaboration with the service line educator, monitors staff clinical competency and fosters the development of situational decision-making to ensure a safe environment.
- Coaches clinical staff in safe and effective patient care.
- Maintains situational awareness of all patient's clinical status within the ambulatory clinic.
Staffing and Effectiveness: Responsible for ensuring safe staffing levels and clinical competence to provide excellent patient care to every patient in the clinic.
- Consult staff in their assessment of clinical and/or operational problems, provision of interventions, and evaluation of care-provided outcomes. In collaboration with the nursing, operations, and medical directors, participates in interviewing and hiring new staff to successfully onboard clinical staff, as the unit/service line requires.
- Completes performance reviews as required in collaboration with the nursing, medical, and operations directors to promote and ensure staff development.
- Coach, mentor, and document staff performance to ensure competence, provide feedback for improvement, and utilize disciplinary processes as needed.
- In collaboration with the clinical and operations leaders, will be a resource for flex up and flex down staffing for volume for safe assignments.
- Collaborate and facilitate a balanced skill-based schedule in collaboration with clinical leaders that adheres to staffing and scheduling guidelines, onboarding/orientation schedule, and adherence to staffing/schedule guidelines.
- Partner with the nursing and operations teams to ensure daily operations of workflow.
Quality and Safety: A key leader who role models and supports excellence in clinical practice and promotes a culture of safe, high-quality care in the unit department. This will achieve superior outcomes.
- Ensures clinic area visibility by conducting regular patient, staff, and leader rounding.
- Monitors achievements, ensures staff understanding of hospital metrics and HRO behaviors and promotes a culture of safety.
- Fosters daily staff development to ensure safe, reliable care.
- In collaboration with clinical and operations leadership, engages staff and assists in utilizing evidence-based literature to recommend and support the implementation of clinical practice changes.
- Ensures that the unit is in a continued state of readiness for all accreditation and regulatory surveys.
- Fosters an environment to eliminate adverse events.
- Utilizes information systems and technology that places knowledge to improve efficiency and at the point of care to improve health care outcomes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree is required
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
Current MA state RN licensure and/or equivalent clinical experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- 10 years clinical nurse experience or equivalent
- 5+ years of leadership/supervisory experience.
- Experience in clinic operations in ambulatory and inpatient settings.
