As a member of our ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing clinical consultation and treatment for patients in need of mental health and substance use services, conducting psychiatric assessments, assessing physical health needs, making appropriate referrals to community physicians, and providing management and administration of medication in conjunction with the psychiatric nurse.
This role is a vital position on our Cumberland County team.
Schedule
Full-time or part-time. Able to offer anywhere from 8 - 40 hours per week, depending on your needs.
Pay
Starting range is $165.00 - $185.00 per hour, based on experience. + $2,500 sign on bonus (*bonus applies to external applicants only)

Job Responsibilities of an Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) Psychiatrist
- Evaluate members in crisis for treatment and ongoing psychiatric services
- Provide high quality psychiatric services for members in the community, which includes but is not limited to psychiatric evaluations and medication management
- Provide psychiatric services for a population who present with complex psychiatric conditions including severe mental illness; complex neurocognitive disorders; substance use disorders and individuals with co-occurring conditions
- Perform physicals and emergency medical care as required
- Comply with all requirements of the NC Medical Board to retain his/her license as a physician
- Comply with SouthLight Compliance, Credentialing and HR policies as it relates to any filings with the NC Medical, ethics committees or malpractice suits
- Participate in ACT team morning meetings on days worked
Qualifications of an Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) Psychiatrist
Educational and Experience
- Completion of an accredited Psychiatric Residency Program
- Board Eligible or Board-Certified Psychiatrist with experience diagnosing, treating and evaluating the effectiveness of treatment for mental health and co-occurring population served by the agency
- Experience and knowledge of Federal & State Regulations relative to Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment and NC enhanced service definitions, array of mental health, substance use and developmental disability services
Licensure/Certifications
- The Psychiatrist shall be enrolled as a provider and in good standing with the Division of Medical Assistance and either:
- An American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology-certified or American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology-eligible psychiatrist (MD or DO) licensed in North Carolina; or
- A physician licensed in North Carolina who has ABPN certification if the agency delivers substance abuse services only. If the agency delivers services other than substance abuse services, the physician must meet the exception criteria outlined by oversight and regulatory entities at the state and federal level
- ASAM training/certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills
- Familiarity with the North Carolina Controlled Substance Abuse Registry
- Knowledge of all CARF standards and all federal and state laws, rules and regulations pertaining to medical, nursing and clinical behavioral health care
- High degree of attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task
