As part of this ambitious journey, we are seeking to recruit a new Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Research and Innovation. Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor and a member of the University Executive Group, the successful candidate will provide institution-wide strategic leadership and be responsible for the development of those aspects of the University Strategy relating to transforming and delivering research and innovation. This includes increasing research excellence, impact, and income, promoting interdisciplinary research, as well as driving and overseeing business ventures and collaboration and international research partnerships.
Ideal candidates for this important senior role will have a proven track record of working across academic disciplines to raise the volume, quality, and impact of research, and experience of promoting interdisciplinary research collaborations to diversify and grow income streams. With a thorough understanding of the research and innovation funding environment and opportunities, they will have experience of commercialising and translating research and innovation outputs. This will be underpinned by a track record of sustained senior leadership in an academic environment, together with first-class communication skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively across a diverse range of stakeholders.
