Hospitalist Needed: Nocturnist – Suburban Chicago!!
Hospital seeking hospitalist (nocturnist) in a 12-hour shift (7 on / 7 off model). Shifts are 6pm to 6am. The volumes are 15-20 patients per day shift and 10 patients per night shift. Six hospitalists on staff currently (4 day shift physicians and 2 night shift physicians). The group/hospital needs to replace a departing hospitalist (nocturnist). This is an adult (age 18+) hospitalist program currently (but will eventually grow into a full service / age program). The contract is set up to ensure the physician does not have to see more than 20 patients per shift. Compensation: $250,000 salary annually for nocturnist physicians. Additional pay by the hour for additional shifts over the normal work week. Incentive potential based on meeting certain metrics of quality and patient satisfaction. Comprehensive benefit package. Hospital yearly ER volume: 44,989 (2011). Average Daily Census for hospitalist program: 35.4. With the addition of a large multi-specialty group turning over their inpatients to the program, the expected increase in ADC is around 70. Currently, the program is seeing unassigned ER patients and patients from area primary care satellite clinics.
What incoming physician needs to be proficient in: attend to arrests and be able to do endotracheal intubations and cardiopulmonary resuscitations (usually Anesthesia does this but the expectation is that the hospitalists should be able to do this), place central lines, and occasionally place chest tubes.
