The Children's National Hospital (CNH) Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Oncology Pharmacy Residency Program provides learning experiences centered on patient care and practice management that will enable residency graduates to pursue advanced clinical pharmacist and clinical specialist positions in oncology after completion of the program. The program will also prepare the resident for Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) residency programs, as well as future board certification. Completion of an accredited teaching certificate is a requirement of the PGY2 program if not previously done. Didactic teaching opportunities are also available to the resident that will develop pedagogical skills in the context of adjunct faculty appointment with affiliated schools of pharmacy, including Howard University School of Pharmacy, University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, Virginia Commonwealth University and Shenandoah University.
Application Requirements: Potential candidates for the Children's National Hospital Pharmacy Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Oncology Pharmacy Residency Program should submit a formal application no later than January 6, 2025 to be considered for the incoming class to begin July 1, 2025. The following should be included with the formal application submission in PHORCAS:
- Curriculum Vitae - should include (but not be limited to) schools or universities attended with dates of enrollment; degrees conferred or expected; honors and awards; extracurricular activities; work experience; completed and anticipated clinical rotation experiences.
- Three letters of recommendation
- Two from clinical or academic faculty; one from the applicant’s most recent employer.
- Each letter of recommendation should provide comments in at least three fields, preferably the fields of:
- Independence and resourcefulness.
- Ability to work with peers and communicate effectively.
- Emotional stability and maturity.
- Letters of recommendation should be directly submitted by the author to PhORCAS.
An on-site or virtual interview at Children’s National Hospital is required. Applicants will be invited to interview based on review of their formal application, personal statement, and letters of recommendation. On-site and virtual interviews will be scheduled for a mutually available date between late January and early March 2025.
