About the Department of Pediatrics
The Department of Pediatrics and the Children's Hospital of the University of Illinois is home to over 120 faculty, 39 Pediatric Residents, 16 Med/Peds Residents, 14 Fellows, and a growing, nationally ranked pediatric research program. Each year, our faculty receive more than $10 million in research grants. The Children's Hospital of the University of Illinois scored in over 6 specialties for three years in the US News and World Report Survey. The Partnership for Pediatric Care encompassing the inpatient units at Children's Hospital of the University of Illinois (CHUI) and Cook County Health includes more than 110 beds (16 pediatric intensive care, 24 step-down, and 70 neonatal intensive care unit). Designations include Level III NICU, PCCC (critical care), EDAP (emergency room), and Burn and Trauma (CCH). The Partnership for Pediatric Care provides convenient access to outpatient services at more than 30 locations including Mile Square Federally Qualified Health Centers and Cook County Health clinics. Each year, the Partnership for Pediatric Care serves more than 100,000 children with nearly 230,000 visits. Our subspecialty physicians work closely with our affiliated institution, Shriners Hospital for Children Chicago. The Department of Pediatrics has the primary leadership role in the child health enterprise across UI Health and faculty members in the Hematology-Oncology Section play clinical and supportive roles across the health system.
About the Section of Neonatology
The Section of Neonatology covers a 46 bed NICU and a Step-Down Special Care Nursery System. This is a busy medical/surgical unit with multiple pediatric sub-specialists available.
Description:
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois Chicago is seeking Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Hospitalists to join our team. Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience.
Primary responsibility is in inpatient care service, teaching, scholarly activity, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Proportion of responsibilities will be dependent on applicant's interests, experience, and expertise.
This position includes patient care services during days, nights, weekends, and occasional holidays.
Qualifications:
MD or DO from accredited medical school or foreign equivalent medical degree.
Unrestricted Illinois license to practice medicine or Illinois license eligible.
Board certification/eligibility in Pediatrics is required.
