Pediatric Cardiology Health Sciences Series - Interventional Cardiologist
University of California Los Angeles
Requisition Number: JPF09852
UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital Division of Pediatric Cardiology is seeking a Pediatric interventional cardiologist. Applicants should have formal 4th year fellowship training in Pediatric interventional cardiology and must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Cardiology. Current trainees are welcome to apply.
The Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital performs over 500+ cases annually including over 50 transcatheter pulmonary valve replacements each year. Our cath lab offers a full range of interventions including VSD closures, lymphatic interventions, premie PDA closures, aortic valve replacements for children, a full range of hybrid interventions and all standard transcatheter interventions. Interventions in adult congenital patients comprise about 25-20% of the volume at UCLA. The Congenital Catheterization Laboratory at UCLA is actively involved in many multicenter clinical trials and has an active translational research program dedicated to the development of new biodegradable stents.
The new faculty member will join the team as a junior interventional cardiologist working directly with the head of the cath lab, Dr Daniel Levi, to cover all the pediatric cases. The new hire will be responsible for performing interventional and diagnostic catheterizations. Participation in clinical, bench or translational research is strongly encouraged. Finally, because our center participates in multiple research/collaborative databases as well as clinical research studies, a background in clinical research is valuable. The position will also include responsibilities for covering the general pediatric cardiology inpatient as well as participation in the outpatient clinic. If applicants have an interest in heart transplant and/or heart failure, there is also the opportunity for work with the Pediatric Transplant/Cardiomyopathy program at UCLA.
The UCLA Mattel Children's Heart Center serves a population of over 25 million in the heart of the USA. Our referral base locally extends over 4 counties. Annually, we perform over 300 cardiac surgeries (including hybrid procedures), over 650 cardiac catheterizations (including EP procedures), and over 9000 echocardiograms. We have a growing group of cardiologists covering all other subspecialties (EP, interventional, advanced imaging and fetal). We have a collaborative program with Children's Hospital Orange County (CHOC) with joint conferences and we often collaborate on complex transcatheter interventions from patients from Kaiser and CHOC.
The position also includes a faculty appointment at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. In addition to interventional cardiology, applicants will also participate in general cardiology outpatient clinics, inpatient cardiology service, consults and occasional general cardiology call. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience.
The successful applicant must share our unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, collegiality, antiracism, and respect for inclusion of individuals with diverse backgrounds.
