Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Dentist II for the Eric B. Chandler Health Center at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The primary purpose of the Dentist II position is to provide dental treatment to patients; remediate pain and suffering to patients; ensure ongoing preventive care; develop a plan of care that integrates medical and dental considerations; develop a list according to the individual Plan of Care.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Obtains complete medical/dental history.
- Diagnoses and treats dental disease including caries, trauma, and oral pathology. Documents findings according to policies and procedures.
- Provides a variety of dental services, including amalgams, composites, extractions, endodontics, fixed and removable prosthetics, preventative treatments and emergency care.
- Uses pharmacological adjuncts appropriate to individual circumstances including local anesthesia and other supportive medications.
- Consults with medical staff when necessary to ascertain the causal factors that affect the onset of progression of dental diseases.
- Instructs and supervises the dental assistants during patient treatment.
- Prescribes and reviews work performed by the dental hygienist.
- Completes, records and reports patient treatment, necessary for the administration of the dental department (including charts, encounter forms, preauthorization and lab forms).
Position Status: Full Time
This position requires a fully on-site work arrangement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two (2) years in the practice of dentistry.
- In lieu of one (1) year of practice experience, may have successfully graduated from an American Dental Association (ADA) approved General Practice Residency (GPR) or Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency training program.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Must possess a License to practice Dentistry (DDS or DMD) in the State of New Jersey.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Physical Demands: Position requires standing 1/3 of the time, walking 1/3 of the time, sitting 2/3 of the time, use of hands to finger, handle or feel 2/3 of the time, ability to reach with hands and arms 1/3 of the time, ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl 1/3 of the time and talk or hear 2/3 of the time. Position requires lifting up to 25 pounds 1/3 of the time.
- Work Environment: Work near moving mechanical parts 1/3 of the time, fumes or airborne particles 2/3 of the time, risk of radiation 1/3 of the time. Moderate to loud noise. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens that require use of personal protective equipment.
