The Vice President of Portfolio Management will be responsible for providing leadership and management of assigned McCormack Baron Management Regional Directors that will directly determine the day-to-day operations of our national multifamily portfolio. The position will be responsible for oversight of the portfolio Key Performance Indicators and make necessary approved changes to daily procedures where needed to help drive positive performance on a national scale. The Vice President of Portfolio Management will be part of the Vice President Leadership of McCormack Baron Management and will hold a key role within the organization.
Responsibilities:
- This position will serve as a principal advisor to the President of Property Management on all issues directly related to operation strategies by providing overall direction options and leadership of portfolio operations. This will include goal setting through policy and procedures to ensure that the necessary performance targets set out in strategic and business plans are achieved.
- Responsibilities will include direct supervision of the management company Regional Directors.
- Develop, set, and monitor all initiatives and operations creating goals and benchmarks for success through Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and financial measures. The Vice President of Portfolio Management will collaborate with the Vice President of Operations for the creation, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s Standard Operating Procedures. This will include review and approval of policies to achieve the management company’s overall goals.
- Partner with the Vice President of Operations and other Leaders within MBC to develop an efficient and coherent process to organize and support the properties.
- Development and implementation of comprehensive programs, initiatives and strategies that promote the achievement of optimum operational, financial and business performance by the properties.
- Assess overall day-to-day operations and provide Regional Directors with coaching, goals, and standards to standardize site operations and implement safety procedures and manage the properties to a high level of efficiency.
- Aid in preparing meaningful, reasonable site budgets, financial strategic goals, and financial forecasting as well as present on overall portfolio performance and projects/initiatives monthly to Leaders, Stakeholders, and Ownership.
- Remain current on local, state, and federal issues related to the affordable housing industry and disseminate the information accordingly.
- Attend meetings and develop executive reports deliverable to leadership, investors, and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain relationships within MBC, Human Capital Partners, State and Local leaders and assist with attaining future property management business.
- Undertake such other reasonable and lawful duties as may be directed from time to time by the President of Property Management.
- 30% travel is required along with at least one week office presence. Local employees adhere to a hybrid office schedule.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 10+ years related leadership experience in Property/Portfolio/Community Management with demonstrated executive presence.
- Experience effectively leading significant organizational growth from a people perspective.
- Must be a hands-on leader willing to implement and continually manage new initiatives on their own.
- Motivated and well-organized with attention to detail.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence/coach.
- Must be highly credible and trustworthy in handling confidential information.
- Working knowledge of local and federal laws including Fair Housing.
- Must have knowledge of LIHTC, Public Housing, Project Based, Market rate Housing and Revenue Maximization.
- Strategic vision with critical thinking in high stress scenarios involving owners, employees and residents.
- Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, i.e., creating and delivering proposals/presentations and speaking to a diverse audience.
- Microsoft Office knowledge a must, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Property Management software programs, Yardi preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or business-related degree preferred.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers/printers, and filing cabinets.
- This position requires sitting, bending, stooping, or standing as necessary. Our offices are equipped with electronic desks for standing or sitting.
