The Role
The Manager Software Engineering is responsible for helping to design and implement our vision for the future of Lumen. They have experience with software development, product delivery, agile, DevOps and cloud computing. They are capable of leading their team by example and by contribution, as they develop and ship features. This role requires a love of learning and problem solving, and the ability to guide a team towards implementing architectures and solutions.
Location
This position is work from home anywhere within the US.
The Main Responsibilities
- Should be well versed with REST API development and security standards (OAuth2.0, OIDC etc).
- Should have experience using any SQL database (Oracle/PostgreSQL etc) and any NoSQL databases –MongoDB/Couchbase.
- Demonstrate experience using a container ecosystem – Kubernetes, Docker.
- Well versed with system design principles and performance engineering.
- Exposure to GenAI Development using langchain, vector datastores.
What We Look For in a Candidate
- 5+ experience in Java or Python development. Should be well versed with development using Java / Python frameworks.
- 3+ years’ experience as a people manager.
- Experience growing and mentoring talent.
- Experience managing and leading a team working on multiple technology stacks and provide guidance as needed.
Compensation
The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

- $94420 - $125890 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.
- $99390 - $132510 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.
- $104360 - $139140 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.
- $109330 - $145770 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
