Position Overview
In collaboration with the VP of Development, the Senior Director of Individual Giving is responsible for setting and executing strategy for the Individual Giving pipeline at The Tech - including membership, major gifts, and legacy giving. The Senior Director will also manage a portfolio of major donors, personally cultivating, soliciting and stewarding individual donors and prospects. This exempt role reports to the Vice President of Development.
Responsibilities
- In collaboration with the VP of Development, develop and implement strategic plans to drive the full individual giving pipeline, including memberships, annual giving campaigns, major gifts, and legacy giving.
- Manage a portfolio of major donor prospects, cultivating and stewarding relationships to secure significant philanthropic contributions.
- Supervise and mentor a team of two major giving officers, as well as a membership and annual giving officer, providing leadership and guidance to achieve fundraising goals.
- Collaborate closely with the VP of Development to align individual giving strategies with overall fundraising objectives and organizational priorities.
- Utilize data analytics and metrics to evaluate performance, track donor engagement, and inform strategic decisions for enhancing donor acquisition and retention efforts.
- Oversee the planning and execution of donor cultivation events, recognition programs, and personalized stewardship initiatives to foster long-term donor loyalty.
- Be knowledgeable about The Tech’s mission, exhibits, programs, and long-range plans and stay current with the functioning of the entire institution in order to effectively communicate The Tech’s programs and vision.
- Complete additional related tasks or duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.

Requirements and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent level of education and experience
- Minimum of 5 - 7 years of progressive experience in individual giving within the nonprofit sector, with a proven track record of successfully securing major gifts and managing donor relationships.
- Expertise in developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies, including membership programs, annual appeals, major gifts, and planned giving initiatives.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience managing and motivating a high-performing team of fundraising professionals.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and engage effectively with donors, board members, volunteers, and senior leadership.
- Strategic thinker with a data-driven approach to fundraising, capable of analyzing metrics and trends to optimize fundraising outcomes.
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements related to individual giving and donor stewardship.
- Passion for the mission and programs of The Tech, with a commitment to advancing its impact through philanthropic support.
Working Conditions and Schedule
- This is an on-site role with the possibility of flexibility for working some days at an alternative work location. Flexibility will vary depending on the needs of the job.
- Working occasional evenings and weekends will be required.
Compensation: $100,000 - 130,000/year, commensurate with experience
