What's the Opportunity?
We are seeking a principal level Irrigation Designer and Landscape Architect with more than 15 years of experience overseeing, coordinating, and supporting irrigation design on California ecological restoration and landscape architecture project designs during all stages of development. The successful candidate will have demonstrated familiarity and/or experience with ecological based, multi-benefit planning and design for natural resource, habitat restoration public access, and recreation projects.
The candidate will collaborate with Anchor QEA's multidisciplinary staff on projects in California, the west coast, and nationally. The candidate may interface with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, our clients, and the public. The position will require the candidate to lead irrigation design, collaborating with the landscape architecture team on project requirements, solutions, and documentation. The successful candidate will mentor junior and mid-level landscape architectural staff through project-based irrigation design work.
Responsibilities:
- Lead project teams through all phases of project irrigation design (design, planning, and construction)
- Provide reviews and input on site analysis and conceptual design.
- Review restoration design (such as coastal, marsh, estuary, wetland, river, stream, and floodplain habitat restoration) including grading, materials, and planting design as it relates to water management.
- Direct and stamp irrigation construction document packages including drawings, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
- Develop constructable design details and direct documentation.
- Direct the development of technical specifications, including directing research for new products or materials.
- Provide constructability reviews for irrigation design during final design.
- Provide value engineering reviews.
- Provide guidance to staff during construction administration and project implementation.
- Direct and review graphic presentation materials related to irrigation for meetings with clients, stakeholders, and the public.
- Review junior and mid-level staff research, memoranda, reports, and permitting documentation on water management and irrigation design.
What Are We Looking For?
Ideal candidates will have the following:
- Bachelor's in Landscape Architecture from an accredited institution
- 15+ years of experience in irrigation design, landscape architecture, restoration design, and project management
- An understanding of and experience with water management and irrigation in the state of California and nationally
- Fluency in the following software programs is required: Adobe Acrobat or Revu Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite
- The ability to learn new skills, adapt to changing priorities, work in multidisciplinary teams, and work independently
- Experience with federal, state (at minimum California), and local environmental regulations, and with the permitting process for projects with aquatic resources
- Excellent writing, organizational, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Licensed in Landscape Architecture in the state of California, CLARB license and licenses in other states is preferred

Salary and Other Compensation:
- Salary Range: $110/hour - $120/hour
