Your Next Career Opportunity – Director, Engineering A&E Services
The Director of Engineering, A&E Services provides technical leadership and expertise for the organization. The incumbent has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments, ensuring that standards and procedures are adhered to, and recommending process improvements. The Director consults with third party engineering firms on tasks involving non-standard engineering issues. The incumbent also collaborates with peers and other departments to help minimize problems with workflow or changes that would adversely affect results to production timelines. The Director also provides guidance on rules and regulations to senior leadership on technical matters pertaining to structural engineering.
What You Will Do – Primary Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and mentor a staff for continuous improvement of engineering expertise, professional development, and career path planning.
- Contribute to new designs and techniques which are of material significance to solving problems experienced within the company.
- Perform analyses using hand calculations, tower analysis software and other accepted methods.
- Implement and follow quality control procedures.
- Understanding of manufacturing techniques involved in tower industry to reduce the tower modifications.
- Review other EIT work & recommend them the changes if necessary.
- Exercise technical responsibility required within areas of technical competence for sealing engineering work.
- Generate required engineering reports, analyze the information, and make recommendations.
- Provide reporting on the performance of partner engineering firms.
- Provide leadership on major upgrade projects and answer structure-related inquiries from internal and external customers.
- Work with the design staff in the development of A&E drawings; check the accuracy of modification drawings and ensure quality standards are adhered to.
- Knowledge of CAD and design software specific to the telecommunications industry.
- Complete specialized engineering assignments requiring complex calculations.
- Assist in the selection of new design and analysis tools.
- Keep abreast of new technical methods and developments in tower engineering.
- Understanding of various methods used in the industry to prevent corrosion on tower steel.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Work with Talent Acquisition to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ a talented and diverse group of high performing team members.
- Provide oversight and direction to team members in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
- Coach, mentor and develop team members, including overseeing new team member onboarding and providing career development planning and growth opportunities.
- Empower team members to take ownership of their job and goals. Delegate responsibilities as needed and provide routine constructive feedback on performance.
- Create a culture that is consistent with the organization's focus on team member engagement and that aligns with the organization's mission, vision, and values.
- Lead team members using a performance management and development focused approach to assist in goal setting, two-way feedback, and performance development planning.
- Lead team members to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.
What You’ll Need – Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field of study; Master's degree preferred;
- 5-10 years of experience in the communication tower design and analysis.
- 10+ years of structural engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License.
