Business Development Manager – Advanced Materials
Overview:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is a strategic and results-oriented professional who plays a vital role in driving the company's growth. You will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities through a combination of market research, relationship building, and strategic negotiation. In this role, you will be the champion for the company's offerings, forging strong relationships with strategic potential and existing clients, and building a sustainable pipeline for future success.
Duties:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with company goals, in conjunction with business strategy, translating them into actionable plans.
- Conduct in-depth market research to identify and analyze new market opportunities.
- Build and nurture relationships with key potential clients aligned with our growth strategy, acting as the primary point of contact.
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals that effectively communicate the value proposition of the company's offerings.
- Collaborate with the Sales team to negotiate and close contracts, ensuring favorable terms for the company by providing technical expertise and client insights.
- Track and monitor sales progress against targets and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Sales, Marketing) to develop and execute go-to-market strategies.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and competitor offerings and activity.
- Identify and explore co-development and partnership opportunities that expand the company's reach and offerings.
- Actively participate in Voice of the Customer (VOC) initiatives to gather and analyze customer feedback to support business innovation.
- Support R&D projects by providing market insights and customer needs to guide new product development.
- Provide voice of the customer (VoC) and technical value proposition to ensure smooth project transitions from business development to the broader organization.
- Develop and champion business case initiatives to support market expansion and further investment by the company.
- Act as a trusted advisor to key potential and existing clients, applying technical expertise to recommend solutions that solve customer problems.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and guidelines in all activities.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge and experience in developing polymer compound and polymer masterbatch businesses in the 'Engineered Thermoplastics' sector.
- Degree required in scientific/engineering discipline or marketing or MBA.
- 7 years minimum experience for Master’s, or 10 years minimum experience for Bachelor’s.
- Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and securing new business deals.
- Training or ability in project management.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to build trust and rapport with clients at all levels.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a desire to succeed.
- Proficiency in CRM software and MS Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of the company's products or services and their technical aspects.
- Thorough knowledge of HS&EP policies and procedures.
Working Conditions:
- Non-climate-controlled factory environment; frequent lifting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, and stooping are required.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 50%.
