As Illumina’s Product Manager/Senior Product Manager for the NovaSeq X product line, you will support the development and launch of future NovaSeq X systems, workflow enhancements, and core reagents, driving innovation and adoption across multiple applications, segments, and geographies. This role is critical in ensuring that new products are designed to meet emerging customer needs and maintain Illumina’s leadership in high-throughput sequencing. The ideal candidate will be customer-focused, with deep experience engaging directly with customers to shape product development and commercialization strategies. Additionally, you will work closely with R&D and technical product managers to clearly define user needs, prioritize requirements, and ensure solutions are fully aligned with those needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the product development process from concept to launch, ensuring alignment with market needs, customer insights, and business objectives.
- Drive the development of product requirements and market strategies for new product introductions, informed by direct customer feedback and competitive analysis.
- Collaborate closely with customers and key stakeholders to gather insights, identify unmet needs, and translate them into innovative product solutions.
- Partner with R&D and technical product managers to clearly define user needs, prioritize problem statements, and ensure solutions effectively meet those needs.
- Provide support in the creation of user documentation, ensuring that product features and benefits are communicated effectively to both internal teams and end-users.
- Develop sales tools and go-to-market strategies tailored to new product launches, working with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless commercialization.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to create compelling product messaging that resonates with targeted customer segments and differentiates new offerings.
- Work directly with sales teams to define strategies for commercializing new features and product updates, ensuring they are positioned for market success.
- Stay current on competitor activities and market trends, identifying key differentiators and opportunities for new product features.
- Lead voice of customer and voice of field initiatives to ensure that new products meet or exceed customer expectations and address evolving market demands.
- Support the development of new product requirements through market research, direct customer engagement, and strategic planning.
- Analyze customer and market trends to generate actionable insights for product development and commercialization strategies.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of product management or similar experience.
- Experience with genetic analysis (sequencing, genotyping and/or expression) and/or liquid handling automation is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience working directly with customers, translating their needs into product requirements, and guiding product development.
- Familiarity with market research techniques and customer feedback mechanisms.
- Experience defining user requirements and developing customer-focused solutions is preferred.
- Strong project management and organizational skills are required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Excellent communication and team management skills are required.
- Willing to travel up to 20%.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Genetics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Master’s Degree and/or PhD is preferred.
- MBA is preferred.
The estimated base salary range for the Sr. Product Manager, NovaSeq X role based in the United States of America is: $105,600 - $158,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
