Purpose
The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for applying effective analysis, design, programming, integration, and testing skills to produce software systems. They will ensure that the software that they contribute to producing is of high quality, is secure and reliable, and that it meets the needs of both our customers and our business. They will assist with the technical direction of projects and contribute their skills and insights to help the teams that they work with to succeed in the pursuit of our mission.
Responsibilities
- Conducting analysis of user needs and requirements and contributing to user story grooming and planning for assigned products and projects.
- Developing software designs, coding, and testing in accordance with designated company standards of methodology, style, and quality.
- Performing technical tasks, including unit test functions and code reviews, as required, to support the internal quality and control arrangements as defined by company policy and project requirements.
- Contribute to successful programme delivery through effective planning, estimation, execution, reporting, and iterative process improvements.
- Supporting other functions such as Site Reliability, Release Management, and Customer Operations in successful deployment, knowledge transfer, and operation of software to customers including ensuring SLAs are met.
- Acting as an escalation point for production incidents, including being scheduled for on-call support work.
- Complete project and product documentation in compliance with relevant process, standards, and/or regulatory requirements.
- Providing first-hand supervision, guidance, and mentoring to designated lower-level Software Engineers on assigned activities.
- May act as technology authority in short- or long-term planning, making recommendations on technical policies within an overall program, developing proofs of concept, and introducing new technologies to the team.
- Assisting in opportunity discovery and business case development and preparation of project proposals.
- Identifying areas of design that have potential to be patented.
- Participate in pre-sales and customer implementation planning activities where necessary to support Sales and Onboarding Teams.
