Purpose of Role As Vice President of Footwear Development, Materials & Engineering, you'll drive innovation and performance for Under Armour's footwear business. This teammate will provide strategic leadership and direction to high-performing teams responsible for creating cutting-edge footwear products. By translating consumer insights, market trends, and technical expertise into groundbreaking designs, your team will shape the future of our brand. Your vision will be instrumental in driving product development, commercialization, and material innovation to deliver exceptional footwear experiences that exceed customer expectations.
Your Impact - Develop and execute product creation strategy, collaborating with merchandising, manufacturing, wear testing, design, and sourcing.
- Lead teams to achieve desired results and ensure timely product delivery to retail.
- Influence sourcing, materials, and costing strategies.
- Manage multiple priorities effectively to deliver results.
- Communicate business initiatives, strategies, and updates across the organization.
- Foster a culture of excellence within product teams.
- Build a high-performance, bicoastal team through talent acquisition and development.
- Coach, guide, and develop direct reports, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Effectively communicate change and priorities to all organizational levels.
- Contribute to short and long-term planning and budgeting.
- Monitor progress and drive achievement of business plans and profitability goals.
- Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve complex problems across product teams and the business.
- Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to footwear development, engineering, and materials teams.
- Drive the creation of a world-class development organization.
- Collaborate with innovation leadership for seamless integration of new processes, materials, and concepts into development calendars.
Qualifications - 10+ years of athletic performance footwear product development, with leadership experience managing geographically dispersed teams.
- Proven experience in Asia footwear factory operations.
- Extensive experience collaborating with professional and collegiate athletes.
- Significant experience in design collaboration.
- In-depth knowledge of footwear mold drawings, patterns, constructions, and technologies.
- Advanced expertise in injection cleat plate technology.
- Proven track record in developing running, basketball, and cleated footwear.
- Proficiency in Centric PLM system (preferred).
- Strategic sourcing experience across multiple countries (preferred).
Workplace Location - Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our global headquarters in Baltimore, MD.
- Return to Work Designation: Three (3) days week in-office, the remainder of work week remote.
- Travel: Up to 15% travel, domestic and international.
Relocation - Relocation may be provided.
Base Compensation - $232,154.00 - $290,192.00 USD.
Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
