Southern Arizona VA Healthcare System (SAVAHCS) in scenic - sunny Tucson, Arizona is currently looking for a Physician Interventional Cardiologist.
Position Information:
SAVAHCS has been a flagship quality provider within the VA and was a 2012 winner of the prestigious Robert W. Carey Performance Excellence Award. This is an excellent opportunity as we are in a growth area for the VA.
It is a tertiary care facility providing a full range of clinical services including complex coronary angioplasty, electrophysiology, cardiac surgery, Mohs surgery and neurosurgery.
It is also a principal teaching affiliate of the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy.
Candidates must be eligible for a faculty appointment with the University of Arizona commensurate with clinical experience and academic achievement to facilitate teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. All our division members participate in outpatient clinic services, including fellows' clinic. Our hospitalist service reduces the demands of in-patient care in our subspecialty divisions. There is an opportunity to participate in interpretation of cardiac ultrasound, cardiac CT and cardiac MR, depending upon training and interest.
Job Duties:
- Participate in quality improvement activities and comply with rules and regulations of the agency, facility, and department.
- Support a satisfactory process for supervision and training of fellows, residents and medical students from University of Arizona College of Medicine rotating through the Cardiology Division.
- Maintain American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification.
- A commitment to compliance with VA and SAVAHCS regulatory requirements.
- Work Schedule: Full-time, Permanent, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
The Tucson VA Medical Center is a 295-bed hospital that provides training, primary care, and sub-specialty health care in numerous medical areas for eligible Veterans. It is the "Flagship" for the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS), which serves over 170,000 veterans located in eight counties in Southern Arizona comprised of the medical center in Tucson, Arizona and seven Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Casa Grande, Green Valley, Safford, Sierra Vista, Yuma, Northwest, and Southeast Tucson.
It also is a Joint Commission-accredited, level 1a complexity teaching hospital, providing tertiary-level care. The SAVAHCS offers a beautiful 150-acre campus with a full range of medical and mental health services for Veterans, including a 31-bed inpatient psychiatry/substance use acute treatment unit, a 25-bed mental health residential rehabilitation treatment program for substance use disorders (SUD) and PTSD treatment, intensive outpatient programs for SUD and PTSD, homeless programs, and more. The SAVAHCS operates a 24-hour emergency department and is the host site for various regional referral centers of excellence including the Polytrauma Network Site, the Southwest Blind Rehabilitation Center, and the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MHRRTP). The SAVAHCS is the principal teaching affiliate of the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. Annually nearly 1,000 physician and associated health trainees participate in health care training programs at the SAVAHCS.
Requirements:
- United States Citizenship
- Non-US Citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified US Citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in all the US States.
- Must be Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology by the ABIM (American Board of Internal Medicine).
- Successful completion of Residency Training in the USA.
