Your role:
Ensure that St. Louis operations comply with sound environmental, health, and safety practices, including adherence to applicable regulatory requirements. Provide guidance on and support the development of EHS-improvement initiatives across the St. Louis campus. Offer advice to St. Louis senior management and Site Directors regarding capital improvements, adherence to MilliporeSigma Group Standards, and Corporate EHS Key Performance Indicators.
Tasks include:
- Establishing and maintaining staffing levels and directing performance management for environmental, health, safety, and security functions.
- Supporting and directing environmental objectives, compliance assurance activities, and environmental engineering of facility design and/or modifications.
- Directing employee Health Services function, including medical surveillance activities and first-aid and emergency medical treatment.
- Participating in and supporting workers' compensation claims reviews.
- Directing safety functions, including reviewing, updating, and auditing EHS written programs, incident response and investigation, and development of injury/incident prevention activities and safety improvement plans.
- Overseeing emergency preparedness and response planning, ensuring compliance with EHS training requirements, and overseeing chemical process safety management.
- Managing monthly and annual reporting and collection of all EHS data.
- Coordinating and assisting with EHS internal and external audits.
- Directing the Security function, including establishment of and updates to Security Vulnerability Assessments for all St. Louis sites and maintenance of security systems.
Additionally, manage and direct a team consisting of:
- Manager of EHS and staff of EHS professionals
- Manager of EHS and Environmental Services staff
- Manager of Occupational & Industrial Hygiene and staff, including Occupational Health Nurses
- Global Security Office manager, office staff, and Contract Security Staff
Who you are:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 7 or more years of progressive industrial experience.
- 5 or more years of hands-on experience at the plant level in environmental, occupational health, and/or safety.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Environment, and/or Engineering preferred.
- 5 years of supervisory/management environmental, health and/or safety experience. Working knowledge of federal, state and local environmental, occupational health and safety regulations and batch chemical operations.
- Advanced knowledge of environmental, occupational health and safety evaluation and control methods.
- Functional knowledge of advanced incident (accident, spill, fire, etc.) prevention methods.
- Advanced ability to write concise technical reports, whether submitted to external regulatory agencies or internal senior management.
- Agility to respond to immediate requests for data and/or incident summary upon request from local or senior company management.
- Acute problem-solving and decision-making ability, to include excellent communication skills.
- General knowledge of security protocols and common security equipment usage such as CCTV, alarm monitoring, and access control.
- Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
- Strong data analysis/interpretation and mathematical skills.
- Critical requirement to be well-organized and able to manage many projects simultaneously.
