What we do:
The Powertrain Integration team at Supernal is responsible for interface definition as well as physical and functional integration between the Powertrain System and the rest of the aircraft. As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer on this team, you will be responsible for the physical integration of Powertrain Subsystems to Aircraft throughout the development lifecycle, from concept trade studies to the aircraft verification phase. This role interfaces with many teams within the engineering, manufacturing, and validation organization, where your communication and collaboration skills are as important as your engineering abilities.
What you can do:
- Contribute to the strategy and packaging of the Powertrain System to meet structural and safety requirements, while optimizing for mass, cost, efficiency, manufacturability, and serviceability.
- Apply excellent communication and negotiation skills to facilitate discussions between hardware engineering teams with competing interests to invent innovative solutions for resolving tight packaging challenges.
- Use attention to detail in GD&T analyses and installation drawings to effectively convey assembly intent.
- Promote the use of CAD methods and standard processes within the Powertrain department.
- Be responsible for the definition and completion of any/all necessary hardware integration verification activities, including (but not limited to) CAE, physical mockups, and hardware testing.
- Partner with PMO organization to implement build plan.
- Up to 25% of domestic and international travel.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you can contribute:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in mechanical design (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
- Experience in packaging of complex systems in aerospace and/or automotive applications.
- Experience in packaging and mass savings applications.
- Demonstrated strong mechanical engineering fundamentals across a broad range of topics, including statics, materials, and thermals/fluid dynamics.
- Demonstrated strong capabilities in 3DX/CATIA for the development of mechanical designs and prototypes.
- Knowledge of standards DO160G, DO-311A.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive delivery of communication and follow up.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints.
- Proficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office Suite.
You may also be able to contribute:
- Experience in aerospace design/release of complex mechanical subsystems in an Aerospace application.
- Understanding of High Voltage systems and electrical engineering fundamentals.
- Able to thrive and remain productive in a fast-paced startup environment.
Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.
The pay range for this position is: $180,100—$218,300 USD.
