What we do:
The Sr. Civil Certification Engineer is essential in supporting our engineering team. They are responsible for developing strong certification processes and procedures while handling civil certification projects. The Sr. Certification Engineer will identify regulatory requirements, prepare certification plans and compliance checklists, conform inspection plans, and produce other certification-related documents. This position requires close collaboration with our research and development teams.
What you can do:
- Support the execution of the Civil Certification Project - identification of regulatory requirements, development of means of compliance, certification plans, and regulator interface.
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to the team and/or cross-disciplinary research & development teams working on the development & certification of the autonomous, passenger-carrying, eVTOL aircraft.
- Be responsible for the certification projects, provide technical direction, and problem-solve to assist the technical team.
- Ensure Hyundai UAM Engineering projects align with regulations by preparing compliance checklists, certification plans, inspection plans, issue paper responses, and FAA forms, as applicable.
- Assist in creating processes and procedures for the Certification group to streamline their duties.
- Train and guide junior certification engineers in all aspects of Civil Certification.
- Ensure that regulatory compliance is integral to the development process.
- Promote awareness of the certification process and requirements to the broader Engineering team.
- Participate in product design reviews and provide meaningful design mentorship related to the product’s test and certification plan.
- Represent the department in meetings with program management, senior leaders, staff, and internal and external government representatives.
- Up to 10% of domestic and international travel.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you can contribute:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical, Mechanical, Systems, Industrial Engineering, or other related fields required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in systems design, development, safety analysis, integration, and certification (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
- Experience in 14 CFR Part 23 requirements.
- Experience in requirements management.
- Experience with FAA personnel and designers.
- Proficiency in FAA Type Certification, Supplemental Type Certification, and Production Certificate processes.
- Familiarity with ARP4754A and ARP4761 safety processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive delivery of communication and follow-up.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints.
- Proficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office Suite.
You may also be able to contribute:
- Experience working on type certification of an aircraft from start to finish under any of 14 CFR Part 23/25/27/33/35/36 or other relevant regulations.
- Experience with foreign validation of FAA Type Certificate.
- Experience with electric propulsion air or ground vehicles.
- Experience with 14 CFR 33 & 35.
- Experience with DO-254, DO-178, & DO-160.
- Experience with the FAA TSO process.
Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.
The pay range for this position is: $180,100—$218,300 USD.
