An established law firm is seeking a Trial Attorney to join its Real Estate team in Concord, CA. This role involves representing property owners and managers in unlawful detainer actions in California state courts, including trials. Duties
- Litigate unlawful detainer actions in California state courts on behalf of property owners and managers.
- Prepare trial materials, coordinate with witnesses, and conduct trials.
- Provide legal advice to clients through phone consultations, evaluating each scenario and offering tailored counsel.
- Draft and review legal documents such as letters, stipulations, surrender agreements, and other client needs.
- Collaborate with legal staff on pre-trial motions, pleadings, and discovery documents.
- Propound and respond to discovery, prepare for depositions, handle motions, and draft trial briefs.
- Assist with landlord-tenant matters, including drafting notices and providing consultations as needed.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active California Bar license.
- Minimum of 1 year of trial experience.
- Strong oral advocacy skills and knowledge of trial procedures and evidence code.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and effectively communicate across educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.
- Willingness to spend multiple days per week in court.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with unlawful detainer law.
- Jury trial experience.
- Knowledge of the rental housing industry.
