Regional Perishable Partner - Grocery Retail
Purpose
This position provides guidance, expertise and training to Retail Partner Store Managers, perishable personnel, store team members, and Save A Lot regional field staff on all aspects of perishable operations; and requires an in-depth understanding of retail fresh meat and produce. This includes meat and produce product knowledge, retail financial acumen with P&L experience, troubleshooting problems, ordering, cold chain management, quality assurance, food safety, sanitation, shrink control, merchandising, assortment and COOL program compliance. This role will be responsible for assisting the Retail Partners in perishable department performance analysis and partnering in the development and execution of plans to improve sales and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Provides guidance and training to store management and staff, inclusive of hands-on demonstration, on all aspects of fresh meat and produce operations.
- Focuses on meat cutting and merchandising training to maximize sales and profitability.
- Utilizes company training programs, including but not limited to Meat Cutting and Produce Resource manuals, to assist Retail Partners in establishing best practices.
- Meets regularly with regional leadership to ensure that action plans, company performance metrics and Retail Partner expectations are met.
- Ensures compliance with all City, State and Federal requirements.
- Assists Retail Partners in setting the meat and produce departments during remodels, Grand Openings, or on an as-needed basis in existing stores.
- Completes special projects, as assigned, and completes routine paperwork accurately and on a timely basis.
About You
- High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree is a plus.
- Strong meat operations experience required, including hands-on experience in meat cutting.
- Knowledge of retail produce operations is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to influence others without authority and collaborate to achieve results.
- Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively execute multiple priorities and tasks.
- Ability to effectively complete administrative paperwork in a timely manner.
- Ability to work effectively under limited direct supervision.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel up to 90% of the time, including overnights, weekends and evenings, as needed.
- Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday.
- Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work on feet for extended time up to 10 hours.
