Organization & Position Summary:
The Arc Minnesota promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), actively supporting them and their families in a lifetime of full inclusion and participation in their communities.
The Director of Equity and Justice provides overall leadership and management of inclusion, diversity, equity, and justice efforts organization-wide. This position will:
- In partnership with The Arc Minnesota staff, members, volunteers, self-advocates, and the broader disability community, design, implement and evaluate strategies and goals promoting equity and belonging that specifically impact and promote disability justice, anti-racism, and anti-ableism.
- Directly engage, collaborate, and create strategies with leaders who have intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), with disability community members who are Black, Indigenous, and people of color and with people who have lived experiences in building just, anti-ableist and anti-racist organizations and communities.
- Consistently demonstrate and model the organization’s core values of Human and Civil Rights, Self-Advocacy and Self-Direction, Equity and Belonging, and Disability and Racial Justice.

Major Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement annual organizational Equity & Justice work plan, strategies, and goals in collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team and staff statewide.
- Provide overall direction, leadership and management of The Arc Minnesota’s board level Equity and Justice committee; includes coordination, facilitation, and training.
- Develop and promote training programs to enhance employee, volunteer and organizational members’ understanding and engagement on issues related to equity, justice, and intersectionality.
- Develop and lead coalition efforts relating to strategic imperatives that advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.
- Build, maintain, and deepen relationships with culturally specific community leaders.
- Represent The Arc Minnesota in groups, coalitions, and partnerships related to The Arc’s DEIJ related work.
Qualifications:
- Must reside in the state of Minnesota
- At least five years’ experience leading inclusion, diversity, equity, and justice efforts required.
- Possess a deep understanding of intersectionality, preferably the intersection of race and disability.
- Demonstrate a commitment to and analysis of social, racial, and economic justice and their intersections.
- Understand and embrace the principles of Disability Justice.
- Developed a practice of confronting and deconstructing anti-Blackness and experience implementing anti-racist and anti-ableist practices.
- Experience in curriculum design, training, and program implementation.
- Experience in community engagement, outreach and/or organizing.
- Effective organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of policies and systems issues that affect the lives of people who have IDD, especially those with intersecting identities preferred.
- Ability to work with all people, including but not limited to community partners, organizational leadership, staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
