A rapidly growing national leader in wound care services is seeking an experienced Chief Medical Officer (CMO) with a strong background in wound care management to oversee and enhance clinical operations across the organization. The ideal candidate will be Board Certified/Board Eligible (BC/BE) with a minimum of five years of healthcare experience specifically in wound care.
The CMO will play a crucial role in developing and implementing medical strategies that align with the organizations goals while ensuring the highest quality of care for patients with complex wound needs. This position requires a strong leader capable of collaborating with executive management and clinical teams to uphold best practices and drive continuous improvement in clinical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership:
- Provide visionary leadership for clinical services, fostering a culture of excellence in wound care management.
- Oversee clinical governance, ensuring adherence to wound care best practices, regulatory requirements, and quality standards across all clinical operations.
- Directly manage complex wound care cases when necessary and provide expert guidance in decision-making about patient care.
Strategic Development:
- Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and assess the organizations clinical strategies and objectives focused on wound care services.
- Identify opportunities for program development and expansion in wound care services.
- Lead the continuous evaluation and improvement of clinical protocols and guidelines based on the latest evidence and best practices in wound care.
Quality Assurance and Improvement:
- Oversee the implementation of quality assurance programs specifically designed to enhance patient care, safety, and satisfaction in wound care management.
- Monitor clinical performance metrics related to wound care and implement initiatives to improve patient outcomes.
- Address and resolve quality-related complaints and appeals in a timely manner, specifically for wound care services.
Team Development:
- Mentor and lead a high-performing clinical team with expertise in wound care, including Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and nursing staff.
- Facilitate ongoing clinical education and training on wound care best practices to ensure competency and performance excellence among staff.
- Foster collaboration among clinical teams to promote a cohesive and supportive work environment focused on wound care.
Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and internal policies related to wound care.
- Stay informed of changes in industry regulations, Medicare guidelines, Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs), and National Coverage Determinations (NCDs) that pertain to wound care services.
- Conduct training for clinical staff on compliance and regulatory standards in wound care management.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Board Certified/Board Eligible (BC/BE) with a minimum of five years of experience in a senior healthcare leadership role, specifically in wound care management.
- Proven experience in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives tailored to wound care.
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills relevant to wound care services.
- Exceptional organizational and communication abilities, particularly in contexts related to wound care.
- Ability to navigate a dynamic and fast-paced healthcare environment focused on wound treatment and management.
- Proficient in data analytics and leveraging electronic health records to improve wound care clinical operations.
Work Environment: This position is remote but will require active participation in clinical operations, including direct patient care related to wound management when other providers are unavailable. The role involves a mix of strategic (75%) and clinical (25%) responsibilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a commitment to building an exceptional team in wound care management.
Salary: Salary starts at $250K per year.
