The Role
We are seeking a Chief Accounting Officer (CAO), who will lead the accounting function, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, accounting processes and systems, vendor management and procurement, and regulatory reporting. The CAO will help to identify and implement scalable processes and systems for financial controllers. This role will play a critical role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of our organization, providing strategic guidance and leadership to support long-term success. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of technical accounting best practices and requirements, including detailed knowledge of US GAAP, with a proven ability to provide sound and ethical financial counsel to executive leadership. This role reports into our CFO.
How You’ll Help Take Us There
- In partnership with the CFO, ensure that the organization has best-in-class financial accounting processes and systems to achieve organizational current and future goals, while mitigating financial and operational risk.
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor management and procurement, and payroll to ensure efficient and accurate financial transactions.
- Develop and implement internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards, such as SOX, GAAP or IFRS.
- Work with current accounting and finance leaders to coordinate with external auditors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Drive accounting systems and vendor management process and practice change and continuous improvement to progress efficiency company wide.
- Review and help prepare financial statements, to provide accurate and timely financial information to management, shareholders, and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure the preparation and analysis of all financial reports meet the needs of the organization and comply with regulatory reporting requirements and global regulations.
- Establish and maintain controls to safeguard assets; document and recommend improvements to internal financial policies and procedures.
- Stay abreast of evolving accounting standards and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
- Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team.
What We’re Looking For
- 15+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- CPA or equivalent certification required. Series 27 License required.
- Public company experience.
- Background in the financial services industry with experience as a Financial & Operations Principal strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make informed decisions.
- Demonstrated experience assessing and implementing accounting systems and regulatory processes that drive efficiency and scalability.
- Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage organizational change and cross-collaborate with non-accounting functions.
- Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems, such as ERP systems, Excel, and financial modeling tools.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively interact with senior management and external stakeholders.
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- High energy and ability to work in fast-paced environment demonstrating a curiosity and drive with an innovative mindset.
- Experience with international subsidiary translation and consolidation.
- Bachelor's degree required, major in Accounting or Finance preferred.

For job positions in NYC, NY, and other locations where required, the estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $250,000 USD to $300,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. You may also be eligible for annual cash incentives, equity, and other benefit programs.
