Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of 1 year direct patient care experience as a CRNA within the last 3 years.
Requirements of the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA):
- Must have a Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree.
- Must be Board Certified /Board Eligible CRNA by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).
- Must have a current license to practice nursing in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property.
- Must have at least 1 year of direct patient care experience as a CRNA within the last 3 years.
- VA experience is desirable.
- Must have current active BLS/ACLS certification.
- Off-hours Coverage: Must be available on call during all hours when the facility clinic is closed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Schedule of the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA):
- This is a Full-time position.
- Hours per Day: 8.0.
- Days per Week: 5.
- Weekday Coverage: Monday - Friday; 3:30 PM through 7:00 AM of the following day (15.5-hour shifts).
- Weekend Coverage: Saturday and Sunday 8:00 AM to 8:00 AM of the following day (24-hour shifts).
- Holiday Coverage: 8:00 AM to 8:00 AM of the following day (24-hour shifts).
- On-call providers must be available within 15 minutes by phone from the initial contact attempt and on-site within 60 minutes of the initial contact attempt.
Responsibilities of the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA):
- Direct Patient Care: estimated 95% of the time involved in direct patient care.
- Scope of Care: Contractors CRNA(s) shall be responsible for providing a full range of anesthesia services for Surgery Services for various surgical procedures.
- Essential skills include independent judgment, flexibility, organizational skills, and the ability to utilize an interdisciplinary approach in the provision of Anesthesia care.
- Organizational Relationship: The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist shall report directly to the Chief of Anesthesia or designee.
- Clinic and Surgical Care: Contractors CRNA(s) shall provide clinical Anesthesia services and be present on time for any scheduled clinics/surgeries.
- Medications: Contractors CRNA(s) shall follow all established medication policies and procedures.
- Discharge education: Contractors CRNA(s) shall provide discharge education and follow-up instructions.
- Communication of Test Results: Mechanisms must be in place to provide notification of test results for patients receiving care.
- Administrative: estimated 5% of the time not involved in direct patient care.
- Quality Improvement Meetings: The Contractors CRNA(s) may participate in continuous quality improvement activities.
- Staff Meetings: The Contractors CRNA(s) shall attend staff meetings as required.
- QA/QI documentation: The Contractor's CRNA(s) shall complete the appropriate documentation pertaining to all procedures and outcomes.
- Patient Safety Compliance and Reporting: Contractors CRNA(s) shall follow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care.
- Contractors CRNA(s) shall be available and present during normal facility hours, which may be revised as deemed appropriate for patient care.
