Business Development Director, Health Surveillance and Diagnostics, Government Business Development
MRIGlobal's Government Business Development (GBD) team provides full-service business development support to identify, qualify, and capture new business opportunities aligned with our multi-disciplinary capabilities. We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated, proactive, and collaborative professional to lead business development for MRIGlobal's health surveillance and diagnostics business. This business unit is focused on developing and delivering diagnostic solutions and providing high-quality global health surveillance. This position will be based in the Washington DC Metro Area and will report to the Vice President of Government Business Development.
This position requires an individual with a talent for building and maintaining customer relationships across Defense and Civilian agencies, who thrives in advanced technical environments, and can broker and win new business across the federal government. The position will directly support MRIGlobal's Integrated Health Surveillance and Diagnostics Business Unit and will be responsible for understanding and leveraging capabilities from across the organization to generate cross-functional programs.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop in-depth knowledge of MRIGlobal's capabilities to enable effective communication and identification of profitable business opportunities.
- Cultivate new, and maintain existing, customer and partner relationships that drive new business growth.
- Shape and execute annual business development strategy and long-range planning to build new business.
- Actively identify, qualify, position for, capture, communicate and pursue government funding opportunities aligned with our capabilities and strategies.
- Research, assess, and communicate new markets and emerging trends that impact the business.
- Successfully partner with technical team members to develop and support customer engagement planning and execution, opportunity assessment and bid/no bid decisions, storyboard and win theme development, application of market and competitor intel, proposal development, and color team reviews.
- Identify, partner, and drive internal cross-business unit collaboration opportunities.
- Actively and successfully manage a robust pipeline of opportunities, including regular assessment to identify strengths, weaknesses, and solutions.
- Represent MRIGlobal at conferences, industry days, and customer and partner engagements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years of related business development experience in federal markets.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant science or business field. Advanced degree a plus.
- U.S. citizen. Ability to qualify for a US Department of Defense security clearance.
- Strong working knowledge of the US Government federal RDT&E markets (including DOD and Civilian Agencies), relationships, processes, budgets, acquisition processes, strategies, and partner community.
- Strong working knowledge of the health surveillance and diagnostics community, both across US Government organizations as well as industrial performer base.
- Successful track record identifying, qualifying, and capturing opportunities and sustaining a robust, diverse, and profitable pipeline.
- Proven success originating, developing, evaluating, capturing, submitting competitive research proposals in the federal research and development market.
- Proven success working with researchers to generate, develop, and capture new business opportunities.
- Experience analyzing and understanding market drivers, technologies, and customer's mission requirements for current and future federal customer requirements.
- Experienced with standard business acquisition processes for booking capture.
- Proficiency with Salesforce CRM, GovWin, federal opportunity tools and databases, including MS Office.
- Ability to travel to and work from MRIGlobal's Gaithersburg, MD office as required.
- Ability to travel to customers, conferences, partner locations, and other MRIGlobal office locations.
