A Day in the Life and the Impact You’ll Make:
The Managing Director for Process Safety testing ensures the continued success of the Process Safety Testing Laboratory in Princeton, New Jersey. This position leads the team executing the daily operations of the laboratories, sales and business development and contributes to the long-term strategic growth of the business. You will oversee execution of growth of the business, operation efficiency, safety of the operation, regulatory compliance, employee development, and delivery of services to our clients. Overall, the managing director of a laboratory plays a pivotal role in driving the lab’s success, ensuring high-quality testing, operational efficiency, and a positive work environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Responsible for site P&L, striving to achieve, if not exceed, budget goals. Support senior leadership with forecasts, input for strategic and investment plans, budgeting, etc.
- Lead the team, promoting the company’s culture transformation and embodying our shared values based on teamwork, collaboration, customer centricity and technical excellence. Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to team members to ensure high-quality service delivery and optimal performance.
- Direct sales and business development to engage existing and new customers, show our expertise and address customer needs.
- In partnership with Lab Managers, coordinate with daily operations of laboratories, ensuring DEKRA’s high quality of service.
- Manage team, setting goals, defining training plans, and guiding the team so they can reach their full potential.
- Achieve and maintain Quality Standards and accreditations pertinent to the business, such as ISO17025.
- In partnership with Lab Managers, coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs, maintaining relationship and coordination with vendors.
- Streamline the lab operations, setting up processes, revising existing ones, and implementing new tools to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain ISO 17025 accreditations and ensure the laboratory operation conforms to the requirements of this certification.
- Identify cost saving measures, such as energy efficiency and utility cost reductions.
- Oversee the delivery of DEKRA’s safety programs and values in the operation to achieve the safety culture and safe operation of the facility.
- Ensure compliance with government regulatory requirements and ensure site permits are maintained for the operation.
What You’ll Bring:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Preferred)
- Minimum 10 years of experience in business development or lab management and personnel supervision.
- Experience scaling revenue within a small to mid-sized growth-oriented company.
- Organizational, leadership and time management skills; self-directed and able to handle multiple priorities with timelines.
- Excellent communication skills, able to inspire employees and engage customers.
- Ability to collaborate seamlessly across the organization.
- Demonstrated creativity and innovation in business, including leadership and relationship building.
Physical Considerations:
- Ability to work in a general office environment.
- Ability to handle extended periods of computer-based work, including telephone.
- Ability to work flexible and long hours, as needed.
- Ability to lift 25-50lbs (luggage).
- Ability to move and conduct work with full range of motion.
- The position is in a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.

- May work around and/or be exposed to chemical, electrical, and mechanical hazards.
- May be exposed to potential loud noise levels.
- May be exposed to potential dust, allergens and irritants.

Travel Considerations:
- Domestic travel required, estimated up to 10%.
- Potential international travel, limited to less than 10%.
What You’ll Receive for the Value You Bring:
Compensation:
The base pay range for this position is $160,000 annually to $190,000 annually. Actual pay is based on several factors including market location and position-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
