Description
The Regional Head of Ocean Freight Operations Americas is responsible for leading the Regional OFR Operations organization to adopt and integrate the global OFR standard processes within the region, providing strategic guidance, supporting countries with process analysis and feedback, developing improvement roadmaps, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a culture of collaboration and change management.
Furthermore, the role is responsible for contributing regional insights to the global OFR standard development, identifying and implementing process improvements to reduce costs, errors, and enhance product/service quality, leading projects to boost efficiency, revenue, and profitability, and ensuring effective communication and coordination between regional, global, and country stakeholders.
Main responsibilities
- Strategic Process Design, Optimization, and Solution Delivery: Implement and execute strategic plans to design, optimize, and deliver regional processes and solutions, ensuring alignment with global standards, regional organizational objectives, and market demands.
- Standardization and Harmonization: Drive the standardization and harmonization of business processes within the region, ensuring consistency and efficiency, focusing on end-to-end processes, roles and responsibilities, process documentation, workflow, training materials, GSC services, and reporting.
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Identify and oversee continuous improvement initiatives within the region to enhance operational efficiency, quality, reduce waste, and improve overall performance and customer satisfaction.
- Change Management: Champion a culture of change and innovation within the regional operations, implementing effective change management practices to facilitate process improvements.
- Performance Management: Drive performance improvement in line with global metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Collaborate with regional cross-functional teams and key stakeholders, including carriers, data providers, customers, and internal teams, to drive process improvement initiatives and ensure successful solution delivery aligned with both regional and global organizational objectives.
- Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for regional team members to enhance their process optimization skills and foster a culture of process excellence.
- Technology Integration: Work closely with regional IT teams to integrate technology solutions that support process optimization and automation initiatives within the region.
- Customer Satisfaction Enhancement: Ensure that regional process optimization efforts prioritize customer satisfaction and contribute to an improved overall customer experience.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure adherence to legal and company regulations by monitoring and enforcing compliance measures throughout the regional solution delivery process.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with solution delivery, ensuring business continuity and resilience within the region.
- Lead a team consisting of multiple managers/senior experts who exercise latitude and independence in assignments.
- Develop short to long-term (1-5 years) plans for optimizing the organization, function, or job-family and the talent required to execute strategies; ensure succession planning for key roles.
Required skills
- Strategic leadership in operational excellence.
- Establish and implement operational excellence strategies that have short to mid-term (1-5 years) impact on business results in alignment with OFR Global Target Operating model and overall business strategy.
- Strong stakeholder management capabilities with various stakeholder levels to ensure alignment and support for process excellence agenda and effectively manage change.
- Ability to drive a common operational excellence agenda within the region.
- Ability to develop a strong and high performing regional operation team.
- Ability to coach and develop direct reports in line with DPDHL Leadership Attributes.
- Ability to lead broad-scope transformation programs on a regional level - from planning to execution.
- Extensive knowledge of the ocean freight end-to-end processes and system landscape.
Other requirements
- Master's Degree or equivalent experience.
- Must be able to travel internationally ca. 20%.
- Min. 8 years of experience in the OFR forwarding industry.
- Used to work in a multinational environment and in a large corporation.
- Seasoned leader with a successful track record.
