Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms, with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking a Knowledge Solutions Architect.
As an active contributor to the Knowledge Solutions product roadmap, the Solutions Architect will report to the Knowledge Solutions Senior Developer and will shape the technical strategy, architecture, methodology and standards for delivering legal software platforms as well as solutions leveraging Microsoft stack of software solutions available in Azure and M365.
This position will reside in either our Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, or Washington, D.C. office and offers a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule.
Responsibilities
- This role will assist in assessing the need for change and the impact of change; and assist in ideation, prototyping, testing and validation of new ideas.
- Advise on the level of effort and cost required to meet progressive, innovative challenges in advancing knowledge services at the firm.
- Provide insight into how key software systems would integrate into both Microsoft Azure, M365 and other legal software.
- Identify, assess, prioritize, and track gaps, challenges, opportunities, and risks within and across these integrated applications.
- Help to guide the knowledge solutions product team when balancing 'the art of the possible' with the needs of attorneys when evaluating buy/build considerations for new products.
- Collaborate with various teams including IT, data management and AI teams on security and the integration of AI tools.
- Create and maintain functional and technical requirement documentation of application architecture.
- Remain informed about product options in the legal marketplace as integrative products.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science and 5-7 years of overall experience.
- At least 3 years of demonstrated experience working with Microsoft architecture including familiarity with design, development, and implementation.
- Preference for candidates with experience developing/supporting business and legal applications in use at major law firms.
- Familiarity with the use of full lifecycle development methodologies with web-based applications.
- Experience integrating with backend operational and content management systems.
- Experience working with component-based applications including web services, application integration, patterns, and data access development.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies (Feature Driven Design, Scrum).
- Excellent writing skills demonstrating the ability to define how products integrate with one another and with the Microsoft stack of technologies.
- Familiarity with the use of source management control tools for managing development, staging, test and production environments.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret functional and technical specifications, prepare business correspondence, proposals and reports, and effectively present information to groups of employees, managers, clients and vendors.
- Ability to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions, involving several variables, in routine situations.
For positions in Washington, D.C., the salary range for this position is: $104,494.00 - $167,190.00.
For positions in NY, the salary range for this job posting is: $113,580.00 - $181,728.00.
The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and the firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, firm or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
