The Acute Care Technology division of ZOLL develops and delivers innovative lifesaving products and software solutions to EMS, hospital, public safety, and military customers globally. Job Summary:
Brings a diversified background and in-depth knowledge to the design and development of electronic hardware at ZOLL Medical. May focus on technical track and/or project management track. Capable of innovative, creative, and independent strategies to produce electrical solutions to the product development problems. Generally responsible for the overall technical design of a major new product or a major revision to an existing product, and/or responsible for the supervision of personnel, schedules, and budgets for a major new product development project or a major revision to an existing product. Supervises 1-15 member project team. Works independently based on project objectives. Interfaces directly with the Vice President and Directors of Research and Development. Seeks supervision as needed.
Essential Functions:
- 25% performs duties of project manager in the product development process. This requires the supervision of personnel, task assignments, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Performs duties of electrical task leader on projects requiring the development of very complex and significant hardware. This may require the supervision of personnel, task assignments, and scheduling.
- 25% major contribution to the electrical requirements definition, focusing on feasibility, systems analysis, software/hardware tradeoffs, electrical architecture, and software/hardware interfaces; serves as chief architect on complex electrical development projects.
- 30% independently develops very significant and complex electronic hardware for a project.
- 10% provides a major contribution to the documentation of hardware.
- 5% plays a major role in the systems engineering of products and provides a major contribution to systems requirements definition for new product development or for modification to existing product.
- 5% participates as a senior technical reviewer of the detailed electrical design, code, and documentation presented at hardware design reviews across product lines.
- Shares individual expertise with other electrical engineers.
Skill Requirements:
- Minimum 12 years' experience in electronic hardware design. Must have experience in all phases of the electrical development process.
- Leadership experience required. Needs good communication skills.
- Demonstrated accomplishments in electronics design and product development.
Required/Preferred Education and Experience:
- BS in electrical engineering or a technical equivalent.
- MS degree preferred.
