Position Overview: The Product Line Director in Consumer Electronics will oversee the entire lifecycle of a specific product line, from conception through end-of-life. This role is responsible for driving product strategy, new product budgets and performance expectations, managing cross-functional teams, and ensuring the successful development, launch, and growth of consumer electronics products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product management, design for manufacturing best practices, deep understanding of consumer electronics markets, and a proven track record of leading successful product initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Strategy & Roadmap:
- Develop and execute the long-term product strategy and roadmap for the product lines.
- Identify and prioritize market opportunities based on consumer insights, competitive analysis, and technological advancements.
- Ensure alignment of product strategies with overall company goals and objectives.
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement the product line strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify market opportunities and trends to increase sales and promotions.
- Define product vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Product Development & Innovation:
- Lead the product development process, from ideation to launch, ensuring products meet quality, cost, and timeline requirements.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and design teams to create innovative and competitive products.
- Drive the integration of new technologies and features into the product lines.
- Market & Consumer Analysis:
- Conduct thorough market research and consumer analysis to understand trends, preferences, and competitive landscapes.
- Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions about product positioning, pricing, and feature sets.
- Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, sales, and operations, to ensure successful product launches and lifecycle management.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration across teams to achieve product goals.
- Product Lifecycle Management:
- Manage the entire product lifecycle, from concept to end-of-life, ensuring product lines meet revenue, margin, and profitability targets.
- Monitor product performance and adjust strategies as needed to maximize market impact.
- Financial Oversight:
- Develop and manage the product line P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Ensure that product lines meet financial targets, including revenue, profitability, and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Customer & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as the voice of the customer within the organization, ensuring that product development aligns with customer needs and expectations.
- Engage with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, to provide updates on product line performance and strategy.
- Regulatory & Compliance:
- Ensure all products comply with relevant industry regulations and standards.
- Stay informed about global regulatory changes that may impact product lines.
- Innovation & Trends Monitoring:
- Keep abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and competitors in the consumer electronics industries.
- Advocate for continuous improvement and innovation within the product lines.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in product management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the consumer electronics or audio industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and launching consumer electronics products, preferably in the audio space.
