Large Deals ESA is a professional responsible for solutioning large deal reactive and proactive client proposals mainly revolving around themes like Managed Services construct, vendor consolidation, offshore capability center setup through BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer), cost optimization, operating model transformation, etc.
Selected ESA should be able to independently lead such large deals by working across all internal groups and technical competencies to create compelling and competitive solution proposals.
ESA should also have a robust background in technology landscape, architecture patterns, frameworks, tools, processes, etc. to execute multi-service line standard deals (5-50M).
Location: This is a remote (US based) role that will require occasional (up to 20%) travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, design, & build a strong, winning technology solution that addresses the pain-points by translating a strong understanding of the customer business context.
- Independently lead both Large (>50M) and Standard technical (5M-50M) deals.
- Coordinate with all stakeholders (sales, solutions, operations, change management, pricing, transition, facilities, etc.) to ensure timely and high-quality proposal & response submission.
- Lead and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of winning technical estimation/solutions for customers to introduce and establish new technology solutions into their business and business processes.
- Technology domain expertise and understanding of the various functions and regulations governing the industry in complex engagements.
- Deep understanding of industry trends, concepts, opportunities, threats & constraints.
- Create and maintain an effective knowledge management system to support all the phases of the opportunity lifecycle.
- Design a technology solution that aligns with the larger engagement model across towers and jointly build engagement level transformation themes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including business analysts and project managers, to understand the functional and non-functional requirements of a project or initiative.
- Design end-to-end solutions that meet specific business needs, considering factors such as scalability, performance, security, and integration capabilities.
- Analyze the existing technology landscape and identify appropriate software, hardware, and infrastructure components required for the solution.
- Provide technical guidance and support to development teams throughout the development lifecycle.
- Ensure that the solution aligns with the organization's technology standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Evaluate and select third-party software and services that may be integrated into the solution.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions.
- Resolve design or implementation challenges during the development process.
- Collaborate with other architects, such as Domain Architects, to ensure alignment and consistency across the organization's technology landscape.
- End-to-end ownership of the entire solution and support to all the stakeholders through the entire lifecycle.
- Candidate should also possess the following soft skills necessary to orchestrate large deals:
- Ability to independently lead a group of large stakeholders spread across service lines/competencies and corporate functions during the proposal solution process.
- Resolve solution bottlenecks and drive consensus across groups.
- Ability to actively lead discussions to achieve timely and incremental progress through the solution process.
- Actively engage in commercial discussions with pricing teams to achieve competitive pricing through the implementation of all costing and productivity levers.
- Remove any impediments affecting the solution process.
- Closely work with markets/accounts team to align overall response with client expectations.
Required Capabilities/Skills /Years of Experience:
- 18+ years of experience in creating robust Enterprise Technology Architecture or End-to-End solutioning and estimation, preferably at a large or midscale professional services company.
- Excellent understanding of onsite/offshore execution model, solution tents, delivery/engagement constructs, operating models, etc.
- Ability to independently lead, solution, and orchestrate Large Deals with diverse themes such as IT/ITO optimization, vendor consolidation, BOT, cost take out, etc.
- Experience in evaluating options for tool/technology product selection, comparing various evaluation parameters, and helping arrive at the final selection.
- Experience in providing technical solutions covering application modernization & transformation using microservices architecture, technical upgrades & migrations, cloud assessment, application rewrite using latest technologies, considering cloud/on-premises hosting.
- Experience in Cognizant internal tools, accelerators & application risk profiling frameworks.
- Analytical thinking - able to simplify complex problems, processes & projects into component parts and explore and evaluate them systematically.
- Experience in client presentation, creating Proof of Concepts (POC), & demo working solutions.
- Hands-on experience with responding to complex RFP, RFI, Pricing, Estimation and SOW, proposal.
- Exposure to current digital trends with Point of View on app & tech in industry vertical.
- Additional experience in managing DevSecOps / Agile delivery would be a plus.
- Experience with technology areas of one or more of AWS, Azure, or GCP clouds.
- Experience in defining and developing high-volume, horizontally scalable IT solutions.
- Experience in translating business and feature requirements into technical specifications.
- Experience in evaluating technologies for their appropriateness to proposed solutions, including assessing their strategic and/or tactical benefits to the product or wider department.
- Experience of communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in building effective relationships with a wide range of technical peers.
Banking & Financial Services Domain Knowledge (nice to have)
- Familiar with BFS business and lines of businesses such as Retail Banking, Investment Banking, Wealth Management, etc.
- Familiarity with any COTS/SaaS products such as Temenos, FIS, etc.

The annual salary for this position is between $170,000 - $210,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
- This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
