International has a great opportunity for an Associate Director of Information Technology Enterprise Architecture to create and maintain International’s architectural roadmap that delineates application-specific and technology-specific changes to achieve International’s 5-year architecture future state.
This is a hybrid position based three days per week at our headquarters in Lisle, Illinois and reports to the VP, Information Technology Operations.
Responsibilities- Assure that International’s architectural roadmap aligns to the emerging Traton architecture future state and wherever possible, to Traton standard technologies and applications.
- Establish and maintain a technology introduction process that maximizes enterprise-wide software solutions vs. localized solutions and aligns with International’s architecture roadmap.
- Lead technology architecture discussions with IT and business colleagues, demonstrating political savvy, tact, emotional intelligence and positivity.
- Assure that IT and business colleagues comprehend and accept the technical requirements established through enterprise architecture by skillfully and tactfully communicating in language they can comprehend and through positive collaboration with them.
- Drive technology decisions in line with International’s architectural roadmap so that solution choices naturally result in application rationalization and modernization.
- Author and implement the deliverables that embody International’s enterprise architecture processes, standards and procedures.
- Partner with business and technology teams to enable digital solutions that modernize International’s technology landscape.
- Lead workshops with colleagues inside of IT and with critical business stakeholders to guide technology designs and decisions.
- Provide consulting support to solution architects and others throughout International IT to ensure that digital solutions are aligned with the architecture roadmap and our envisioned technology future state.
- Lead and develop the organization's enterprise architecture staff, assuring high technical competence and team orientation.
- Assure an effectively functioning Architecture Review Board in line with International’s governance processes.
- Partner with Information Security & Risk Management to ensure technology systems and architecture landscape align with security policies and best practices.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, products and best practices that will evolve the International’s technology posture with modern software and hardware products and services.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor's degree
- At least 12 years of Information Technology or IT Architecture experience

Desired Skills- Deep understanding of “what good looks like” for architecture processes, standards and procedures.
- Expert level skills to drive a future where the technology ecosystem includes microservices architectures, API design and implementation, event-based integration, accelerated software development, DevSecOps, CI/CD and other modern software engineering and delivery practices.
- Deep understanding of the architectural principles for cloud-based platforms that include SaaS, PaaS, multi-tenancy, and automation.
- Hands-on experience and expertise in the capabilities and technical methods to implement solutions in public cloud services (i.e., technical capabilities and methods applicable to AWS, Microsoft Azure, GCP).
- Foundational understanding of enterprise and industry architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, IT4IT, BIAN, TMForum, etc.
- Direct experience building full stack web applications and building a microservices based application ecosystem.
- Proven experience architecting and delivering enterprise-grade solutions on a large scale.
- Very high self-motivation and accountability with a strong drive for tangible, value-adding outcomes and deliverables.
- Highly skilled team leadership with demonstration of professionalism, diplomacy, authenticity and a drive for results.
- Intrinsically motivated to continuously improve team performance and to grow team skills and competencies.

- Demonstrated success at balancing ideal versus pragmatic information technology architecture.
