Job Summary
The Inpatient Acute Care Cardiology Advanced Health Practitioner position has clinical, procedural, administrative, and educational responsibilities in the care of patients requiring cardiac care. Under the supervision of the Chief of Cardiology and the Heart & Vascular Manager for Inpatient Cardiology Advanced Practice Providers and the Director of Advanced Practice Nursing, the Cardiology Nurse Practitioner will have a critical role in the inpatient setting, with both team member and individual duties.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $91.17 - $124.10 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner I
- Complete a clinical rotation with inpatient general cardiology APP team and/or have a minimum of 2 years of prior cardiac ICU RN experience managing complex cardiac patients
Nurse Practitioner II
- A minimum one (1) years of adult Cardiology inpatient and/or outpatient care experience as a nurse practitioner or completion of an NP acute or critical care fellowship
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with cardiac ultrasound
- Recent experience managing moderate to advanced heart failure patients
- Work experience as Nurse Practitioner in a high volume academic center
License/Certification
- California driver's license (CDL) if required for position.
- Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work

- Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
- Complete a BRN recognized graduate master's degree program as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
- Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
- Current AHA BLS.
- Current AHA ACLS.
- State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.
- Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
