Job Summary
The Senior Manager of Digital Engineering will be a key contributor to the growing IT Team through overseeing the development and implementation of digital solutions, managing a team of developers, and ensuring the successful operation of the digital ecosystem. They will support a strategic roadmap that will improve the digital guest experience and bring that experience in line with the promise of the Aspen One brands. The Digital Engineering Senior Manager will provide inputs on technical and product decisions, manage vendors, ensure the quality of code going into our digital ecosystem, enhance and maintain development best practices, provide inputs to the digital product roadmap, and own the support and maintenance of our digital technology, including but not limited to our APIs, integrations, mobile app database, and custom applications.
This role will be based near our office locations in Aspen, CO or in Denver, CO.
The budgeted salary range for this position is $106,900- $160,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience; all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Job Functions
- Design and develop integration points for our digital applications, using existing APIs, or implementing new applications as appropriate.
- Ensure quality of internal resources’ and vendors’ code by performing code reviews and defining and enforcing best code design and development practices in order to implement scalable digital solutions.
- Translate business requirements into conceptual and detailed technology solutions, collaborating with stakeholders and Product Managers across multiple departments/teams.
- Participate in matrixed teams comprised of Product managers, technical resources, infrastructure resources to design, build, maintain, and support digital solutions.
- Review existing and proposed technical solutions to make sure they are high quality, will be able to meet the needs of the business, will be able to meet high demand, and are taking into account our holistic application ecosystem.
- Identify risks and areas of improvement in existing digital ecosystem, communicate priority level effectively, including tradeoffs to larger digital team.
- Lead the elimination of risk through strategic and selective modernization, scaling, securing, and stabilizing efforts.
- Research technical solutions. Find tools to meet our needs, perform analysis, document recommendations and clearly communicate recommended solutions with a strong understanding of desired business outcomes and strategies at the forefront of the decision-making process.
- Manage development team, including internal and external resources, for technical applications such as APIs, by enforcing quality and architecture standards.
- Work with Product Managers, Infrastructure Team to manage the deployment pipeline across several applications, timing deliveries of new builds with precision and forethought, taking into account multiple concurrent tracks of work, seasonal shifts, and business expectations.
- Move easily between big picture thinking and managing relevant detail to deliver quality and scalability across integration points, namely APIs.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of Digital Engineers, upholding Aspen Skiing Company core values and leadership principles, as we grow and evolve the Digital Engineering team leverage and scope over time.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, incorporating them into the digital engineering strategy.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in development processes and methodologies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in a similar role required.
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing and mentoring a team of developers.
- 8+ years full stack software development experience, with at least 6 years in a Microsoft stack required (.NET, C#, SQL Server, etc.).
- 5+ years of experience building and maintaining web services in REST (JSON) that serve an array of clients, required.
- 5+ years technical project or program management for integration applications such as APIs required.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing technical architectures for complex digital solutions. Experience with integrations in enterprise systems strongly preferred.
- Excellent analytical and project management skills required.
- Proven ability to deal effectively with ambiguous and unstructured problems and situations required.
- 5+ years leading technical decisions for projects strongly preferred.
- Strong team management and communication (written and verbal) skills required.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, type and sit at desk/computer for most of the work shift executing repetitive movements.
- No adverse or hazardous conditions.
- Not required, but preferred to be able to occasionally lift, push or pull 25 lbs. individually or with assistance.
