Position Summary: Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors (HGAR) is seeking a creative, highly skilled Director of Membership to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the member journey as well as developing new member relationships including affiliates. This role will oversee member communications, engagement and value proposition in collaboration with senior team leaders. Position is on-site in White Plains, NY.
Director of Membership
- Develop an annual membership plan that includes recruitment, retention and recovery activities. Plan to incorporate initiatives in collaboration with VP of Marketing.
- Forecast membership and other constituent growth, ensure execution in a timely manner and report on the results.
- Collaborate with the CEO and senior team on the development and dissemination of membership policies and procedures and interpretation of Bylaws.
- Collaborate with senior team on volunteer committee dynamics, training and event implementation procedures.
- Assess opportunities and drive development of value-driven products and services that define a vision for our membership and program development strategies.
- Identify the needs of members, affiliates and non-members. Research and monitor competitive offerings and opportunities.
- Work with staff on the operational processes related to identifying prospective members, on-boarding new members, renewing existing members, updating membership applications, developing renewal communications and refreshing website content.
- Manage the collection, analysis and reporting of membership related data including monthly statistical reports, membership trend reports on a quarterly basis, new member satisfaction surveys, and member and chapter officer satisfaction reports; share market research results with colleagues.
- Recommend and propose revisions to membership structure to allow for a more inclusive membership, for members, affiliates, CID members, etc. Upon approval, oversee implementation of recommended revisions.
- Lead market research efforts to help improve member value, including data analysis. Develop relevant reports for distribution (as needed) and give presentations to share results. Identify market segments to ensure relevant results.
- Conduct research as required to identify the needs and concerns of members and prospects new to the discipline to increase membership and/or participation.
- Oversee all external requests to conduct market research among membership to determine relevance, value and ROI.
- Functions: Digital efforts to promote member growth and support overall marketing initiatives (includes but not limited to SEO, SEM, portal automation, CRM management), growth/retention campaigns for members and affiliates.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in membership management, marketing, or business development, preferably within a membership-based organization or association.
- Proven track record in developing and executing membership recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies.
- Experience with membership databases (e.g., CRM systems) and digital marketing tools (e.g., SEO, SEM, portal automation).
- Strong data analysis skills with experience in reporting on trends, forecasting, and member satisfaction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with leadership.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of constituents, including members, affiliates, and stakeholders from varying backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Experience working with volunteer leaders, committees, and member engagement programs.
- Knowledge of bylaws and membership policies within professional associations is a plus.
- Strong presentation skills and ability to convey research findings effectively.
- Ability to work on-site in Westchester County, NY.
- This position may require occasional travel to attend conferences and events, many of which are after working hours and/or weekends.
Salary Range: $110k-$125k
