Fox TV Stations FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.
JOB DESCRIPTION
WTTG/WDCA – Studio Technician / Technical Director (Per Diem Part-Time)
FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is looking for a part-time Studio Technician/Technical Director to join our engineering team. If you have experience with floor directing, live production broadcast equipment, and studio operations this may be the perfect job for you. The ideal candidate will have a passion for journalism, focus on delivering high quality newscasts to local viewers, and be a leader in the news production environment.
Responsibilities:
- Fill a variety of production roles and help prep material for our broadcasts.
- Operate in a fast-paced, live production control room and studio.
- Perform functions including, but not limited to, technical director, audio operator, robotic camera, and/or floor director.
- Take direction, think critically under pressure, and work professionally as part of a cohesive team within specific time constraints.
- Maintain a friendly, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
- Interact effectively and professionally with on-air staff, off-air staff, production and technical crews, and management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- HS Diploma (or equivalent) required; vocational/technical school, associate degree or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years recent experience in the broadcast technician, master control, and news environment in a medium to major size market is required.
- Ability to operate live broadcast production equipment.
- Solid understanding of live production environments, specifically news production, is required.
- Experience with automated control room environments is a plus.
- Must be able to sit and stand for an extended period of time, lift 20 pounds, reach overhead, bend, squat and kneel.
- Varied shifts, OT, weekends & holidays will be required.
FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus operates out of state-of-the-art studios and facilities in the heart of downtown Bethesda, MD. Our studios air the most hours of local news each week throughout the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and surrounding areas with a viewing audience that is unmatched.
