Principal Product Manager - Technical, Amazon
Hundreds of millions of customers. Billions of products for sale. Billions of queries and billions of dollars in revenue. The scale and impact of Amazon Search is huge. The Amazon Search team creates powerful, customer-focused search solutions and technologies. Whenever a customer visits an Amazon site worldwide and types in a query or browses through product categories, Amazon Search services go to work. We design, develop, and deploy high performance, fault-tolerant distributed search systems used by millions of Amazon customers every day. We are looking for the right person to join our Search Science team and leverage machine learning (ML) to make Amazon Search feel like a trusted friend that can help customers explore our vast selection and find just the right product.
As a Principal Product Manager - Tech for QU (query understanding), you will create the vision, strategy and master the execution of QU team’s dream new products to delight customers in their shopping missions. The Query Understanding (QU) team's mission is to understand the customer shopping intents behind search queries, and use that understanding to provide features on the search page to drive cohesive, knowledgeable, mission-aware, and trustworthy shopping experiences. QU signals can be broadly categorized into three buckets:
- Entity recognition - Identifying products and attributes explicitly mentioned in search queries.
- Intent classification - Identifying shopping intents like product type, browse node and categories.
- Implicit preferences like price range and delivery speed preferences.
